It is hard not to get hyped when a freshman comes across the Twitter feed, DMs, or PRZ WI Prospect Database. We talked about a few who made a name for themselves a couple weeks ago. Since then we have seen another strong batch of talented 2027s to know. You know what that means! Time to dive into any and all tape and breakdown what they are showing early in their careers. Let’s get started with these stars of the not so distant future!
Max is looking like an athlete who will be a variety mismatch sooner rather than later for Mukwonago. The freshman has a long frame at 6’1″ 170 lbs, and possesses a special athletic base to go with that size. The tape shows an athlete who can get behind DBs on deep routes, has the agility to make lateral moves after the catch or subtle jukes in his deep routes to fake DBs. At safety, that speed is used to roam his zone, and his instincts are developing quickly. The freshman plays with natural hands that easily pluck the ball out of the air, away from his body. Between the size, hands, and ability to high point the ball, Baehman is looking like a serious redzone threat. Get this kid on your radars early.
Sussex will be looking to replace a dominant performance by their 2024 QB Tyler Hatcher Tyler Hatcher 5’9″ | 180 lbs | QB Hamilton | 2024 State WI . An athlete who could push for the job is current freshman Cole Erdmann Cole Erdmann 6’2″ | 180 lbs | QB Hamilton Sussex | 2027 State WI . Just like the varsity starter, Cole proved he knows how to find the end zone with his 33 total touchdowns. Sussex loves to use dual threat athletes at QB and Cole fits the mold. On the ground we saw him break off big runs with pure speed, and also create highlight plays with his ability to make defenders miss and then accelerate. As a passer, Erdmann is showing tools to build upon and develop. Cole has many examples of him being accurate from the pocket, in rhythm as well as outside the pocket on the move. His control over the ball placement and touch on his passes are tough traits to develop, and he looks natural doing it. I’m excited to watch the 6’2″ 175 lbs freshman continue to grow and develop and make his way onto the varsity field.
Jordan is a name to know among what looks like a deep group of QBs in the Class of 2027 here in WI. The 6’1″ 155 lbs freshman possesses an impressive base of natural arm talent. His highlights are full of examples of him pushing the ball to the deep third of the field with impressive accuracy that led to catches in stride and big plays. Jordan is decisive, aggressive, and is able to get the ball out quickly with his quick set. The tape shows quick footwork that he can continue to develop over the years as well. Take a look at the highlights below. Garcia looks like he could be in position to battle for QB1 on varsity this fall.
Tyler got his varsity career started early as he helped lead Lake Mills to a playoff berth, and 6-5 record overall while earning Honorable Mention All Conference honors. The tape has me even more excited that the awards, stats, and wins do. Tyler has an excellent, budding frame at 6’3″ 185 lbs. The mechanics look like that of a senior with years of experience. Quick feet, no wasted motion, eyes connected to his feet, a quick throwing motion. It is all there, and it comes together to give Tyler the ability to attack defenses with accuracy and velocity. We see him fire the ball into tight windows. He can reach every level of the field on a rope when needed. The consistent mechanics also make him accurate to every level of the field. The ceiling is very high for the Lake Mills signal caller. Check out the film and get this dude on your radars early. Big things are ahead.
