*Grab yourself a Prep Redzone subscription at a discount with code Johnson30*

Another football season welcomes a new class of athletes taking part in the WI HS football landscape. The incoming class of freshman are members of the Class of 2030, and we already have a strong number of athletes on our radar from the Class. However, with freshmen it will be hard to get clips or highlights. That being said we do have some to go through already from just the first couple weeks of the season. It is never too early to find those stars of tomorrow. So let's start the hunt!

We start with an explosive athlete on the edge. Racine Case's Jeremiah Thompson is a 6'1" 185 lbs DE/Edge defender who has made multiple flashy plays that highlight his developing traits and tools. The quick twitch agility to beat OTs with speed jumps off the page. His balance and acceleration leave OTs chasing him. The freshman is a hard hitting defender too. The '30 DL can also win with physicality, using a really effective base of power to drive OL backwards. It is also very noteworthy how the freshman DL plays with that aggressive mentality and high motor. This is an intriguing athlete and he is at a program that is going to develop him.

Here is a playmaker that is looking like an athlete we will want to keep a close eye on going forward. Tremper WR Josh Parker is 6' 185 lbs athlete and his Week 1 highlights are impressive. Josh was utilized in the quick passing game and it quickly became clear why. After the catch Parker is a tough matchup. He can make you miss in space with his balance and agility. Then the next play he will simply run right through the arms of a DB. The '30 WR also has some speed to burn as demonstrated by the kickoff return TD where he flew through the middle of the coverage unit before they could close on him. Great start to the HS career for the Tremper WR.

Next up we go back to Racine Case for RB Brydan Jennings. The freshman is now up to 5'10" 185 lbs and showing early signs of being a very well rounded back. In Week 1 he checked a lot of boxes. Brydan is quick, agile, and has a burst of acceleration to turn small seams of daylight into big plays. He balances that with contact balance and power. Jennings runs angry and doesn't shy away from contact. The freshman RB does really well running his feet through contact and already is running through arm tackles. His vision behind the line is well developed already too. There is a lot to like about the quickly developing tools from the freshman RB. Get this kid on your boards early, coaches.

Xavian is going to be up there in the running for the #1 player in this Class when it debuts after the season. The 6' 170 lbs athlete is standing out for the Bradford JV on both sides of the ball right from the first week. On defense the long athlete was piling up tackles while playing in the box. The freshman did really well finding the ball, filling without getting blocked, and making sound tackles. On offense we really got to see his special gifts on display. The speed to take the top off the defense and ball skills to reel in those deep shots. The tape also shows that Xavian has the strength to turn quick passes into long chunk plays or scores with some physical running. Kenosha Bradford is well known for producing special athletes and Xavian Pope looks like he will be helping keep that tradition alive.

We stay at Kenosha Bradford for our next standout freshman. This one being QB Mike Payne, the younger brother of '29 #1 player Nicholas Payne. Mike put up a big performance in his Week 1 game, finishing with 300 passing yards and 40 yards rushing. As a passer Mike is going to fit this system so well as he goes through the program. He is a very quick decision maker and trusts his eyes. The ball comes out quick, and every throw shows the ball has plenty of zip on it to carry it all the way to the receiver with velocity. The placement of where he puts the ball on his passes really stood out on his tape too. Putting it where his guy could go get it, but never really at risk of the DB. I'm going to watching the growth and development of Mike very closely over the next three years.

Another potential #1 athlete in this Class is Racine St. Catherine's Damonshay Pitt Jr. The freshman is already contributing on varsity on both sides of the ball. Not an easy feat, but he definitely is playing like he deserves to be out there. On defense he fearlessly gets involved against the run game and tackling overall. And he also has the athletic tools needed to be able to play tight coverage 1 on 1. We see that speed on offense as he stretched the field and made a great catch with the DB right on him. I'm fired up to see the career Pitt is able to build for St. Cat's. The talent is there and so is the opportunity to play. It should lead to an exciting career to follow.

Franklin is a great program in terms of QB development, so seeing a new one coming through instantly peaks my interest. The 6'1" 165 lbs freshman AJ Chromy had a good showing vs Racine Case. He demonstrated really good pocket presence and mobility. The poise to get the ball out while staring down pressure also flashed in the tape. His quick and consistent mechanics allows him to get the ball out quickly and also aid him in being an accurate passer. The '30 QB will definitely be on our radar here at PRZ WI going forward.
