The 2023 State Championships were a treat. It showcased 16 teams from all over Michigan fighting for a championship. These eight games featured a ton of great offensive performances, and that's what I'd like to showcase here. This article will feature what I believe is the ideal offense from the State Championship teams!

Offense

QB - [player_tooltip player_id='77216' first='Isaiah' last='Marshall'] - Southfield A&T

The top-performing QB of State Championship weekend, and one of the most consistently clutch players I've ever seen.

QB - [player_tooltip player_id='247690' first='Bryce' last='Underwood'] - Belleville

Bryce didn't have the stats that you would have expected, but he still impressed a ton with some of the throws he was making.

RB - Kellen Russel-Dixon - Grand Rapids Catholic Central

Against a physical Corunna defense, Kellen broke several tackles and made the most of every carry. Kellen has a rare combination of power, athleticism, and contact balance.

RB - [player_tooltip player_id='603737' first='Donald' last='Adams'] - Harper Woods

The Harper Woods RB was one of the most impressive athletes of the weekend. He played with a physicality that I don't think South Christian has seen since playing GRCC. Without Donald's hard, relentless running, I don't think Harper Woods wins this game.

WR - [player_tooltip player_id='247706' first='Tashi' last='Braceful'] - Southfield A&T

Tashi continues to impress me. Every time I see him, the more I like him. I would not be surprised if his 10 reception, 152yd performance earns him a BIG 10 offer.

WR - [player_tooltip player_id='610770' first='Jake' last='Vermaas'] - South Christian

10 receptions, 192 yards and a touchdown for Vermaas. At this point, these types of performances are expected. What sets Vermaas apart from the pack is his elite contested catch ability. I think he could get a bit better at separating, but his current skills make up for his flaws. I'm excited to see where Jake ends up in college.

WR - [player_tooltip player_id='563422' first='Damion' last='King'] IV - De La Salle

[player_tooltip player_id='563422' first='Damion' last='King'] took some hits, was back there to return kicks, and put up 5 receptions for 103 yards on offense. It wasn't an easy day for King by any means, but against a Muskegon defense that came to play, he did not faulter.

TE - [player_tooltip player_id='1124466' first='Kaleb' last='Parrish'] - Mason

Kaleb was one of the lone bright spots on a struggling Mason offense. As pressure was constantly getting to his QB, Kaleb was trusted to go up and grab some contested balls. He also got open in the middle of the field quite a few times and did his best after the catch. By far the most productive TE of the weekend.

OL - [player_tooltip player_id='253306' first='Karl' last='Brooks'] - Muskegon

Whenever I watched the Muskegon O-Line, I saw Karl pancake someone. His first step and power with all of his run fits are elite. Wayne State has an absolute steal with Karl.

OL - [player_tooltip player_id='80952' first='Ryan' last='Ross'] - De La Salle

Ryan did a great job at holding things down, especially in the pass game. This is a well-rounded offensive lineman who I think is going to find great success at Ferris State.

OL - [player_tooltip player_id='602233' first='N-Kye' last='Wynn'] - Muskegon

Some ups and downs in the first half, but I think the second half was great for N-Kye. He really took off this season, and I feel he has real P5 potential.

OL - [player_tooltip player_id='1124918' first='Joey' last='Wing'] - Forest Hills Central

Forest Hills Central absolutely dominated the line of scrimmage during this game. Less so on the offensive front, but Joey led the group and had a really nice day.

OL - [player_tooltip player_id='407105' first='Brendan' last='Napieralski'] - Grand Rapids Catholic Central

The All-State lineman had himself a day against a usually dominant Corunna Front 7.

ATH - M'Khi Guy

Guy is an absolutely electric player. He has rare athleticism that I've only seen in a small handful of players. His ability to make people miss in extremely tight spaces is extremely impressive. His talent screams Division 1, though with his size and changing positions in college, he's probably not going to get that D1 attention I think his talent deserves.
