Jake recently committed to Grand Valley, and I am super stoked to see what he can do at the next level. One of the most productive receivers I saw all season long, Jake has been a tough cover for a couple years now. I think he may even be a D1 level talent in many aspects. He has elite hands, and late hands that DBs cannot read. He wins 50/50 balls more often than not by just boxing out the DB and having the better vertical. He moves well in and out of breaks, and can absolutely park it on a dime to send the DB flying by on hitch routes. GVSU should be super pumped about keeping Jake in the GR area, but I would not be shocked at all if he someday finds himself in the portal with some solid D1 offers.

Jake was one of the most highly anticipated returners in West Michigan this season. He lived up to the hype when I saw him against GRCC. Even though it was raining hard, he was still burning DBs and making nice catches. He runs a variety of routes and makes the DBs cover the entire field. I think he could be an extremely tough guy to cover at the next level.

In 2022 I got to watch Jake twice, and both times I came away impressed. The first time was a snowy and cold playoff game that wasn’t conducive to a lot of passing, and he wound up with 3 catches for 41 yards. The 2nd time was indoors for a state title, and Jake came alive. 7 catches and 152 yards lifted his team to a championship. He can catch in traffic, great hands and can go up and get it over defenders. His catch radius is huge, and with his elite route running he is open more often than not. I’m anticipating another huge year for Jake, and college coaches need to be all over this guy!
