Gavins week 4 film could be teach tape on how to play on the edge trusting your eyes and athletic ability. He did a wonderful job of staying attached to the hip of down blockers before meeting pullers in the hole with good technique. Bouma played with patience and great discipline, he also showcased his strength and mobility fighting to bring ball carriers to the ground. One play that really stood out to me on tape was him jamming a TE on the line and following through with tight coverage downfield. He finished with 5 tackles, 1 TFL, 1 PBU and multiple hurries on the QB.

Gavin is a kid I have become a big fan of his film. Gavin played a stand up outside linebacker / defensive end position for the sailors and his film pops at every clip. I am extremely impressed with his ability to be physical at the point of attack, shed blockers and make plays on the ball. Gavin shows good speed and does a nice job of tracking plays back side while staying in position. Gavin plays with good leverage and forces ball carriers back inside to help when engaged with blockers. Im guessing a big year for Gavin incoming and a player that will make plenty of noise in the fall.

Gavin was one of the better testers of the group. He possesses good explosiveness which was on display on his very strong 9’3 broad jump. He had solid times in the 40-yard dash and L drill. In 1v1’s he showed he can win the edge with his speed. He does some good things with his hands. I like the size and athletic profile. He has the frame to continue to add good weight. If he can just continue to get stronger, I think his game will open up for him a lot.
