Week seven has come and gone and there were plenty of standout performers in the second week of the WV high school football season. Here are 16 athletes that stood out during week seven of the season.

[player_tooltip player_id='1119448' first='Rocky' last='Fontenot'] - Frankfort '24 RB

Senior Frankfort running back [player_tooltip player_id='1119448' first='Rocky' last='Fontenot'] makes his second appearance in our weekly standouts this season after another big night on the ground in a tough close loss to a very good Class AAA Spring Mills team. Fontenot scored three touchdowns in the game in two different ways. He rushed for 193 yards and two touchdowns and also caught a touchdown pass for his third of the night in their Wing offense.

Quinton Harbert - North Marion '25 QB

North Marion junior Quinton Harbert was pressed into duty when the typical quarterback was unavailable due to injury and he made quick work of his first start of the season. Harbert had a short but very efficient night as he completed 80% of his passes on 8 of 10 passing for 117 yards and four touchdowns. Harbert connected with senior teammate [player_tooltip player_id='884034' first='Landon' last='Frey'] for three of those touchdowns and 73 of his 117 yards.

[player_tooltip player_id='938593' first='K-Juan' last='Pearson'] - Winfield '24 RB

[player_tooltip player_id='938593' first='K-Juan' last='Pearson'] had a huge night on the ground for the Winfield Generals as they had a dominating 65-0 win over the Poca Dots. Pearson ran for 171 yards and three touchdowns as he gashed the Poca defense in mostly the first half. Pearson and the Winfield option offense proved to be too much and don't look now but the Generals have won five straight after a tough opening loss to a very talented Hurricane team.

[player_tooltip player_id='907799' first='Gavin' last='Davis'] - Shady Spring '24 RB

Shady Spring's [player_tooltip player_id='907799' first='Gavin' last='Davis'] has quietly been very good this season carrying the ball for the Tigers and has now made our Class AA weekly standouts several times. Davis had another very good performance in a tough close loss to Class A Man as they fell 22-20. Davis toted the ball 15 times for 174 yards and two touchdowns as he carried the load for the beat-up Tigers.

Keith Lawrence - Keyser '24 ATH

The Keyser Golden Tornado got a very solid performance from senior Keith Lawrence who is listed as a receiver but was needed in the run game in their big 35-10 win over Class AAA John Marshall. Lawrence was Keyser's leading rusher in their Wing-T offense and had a very efficient 162 yards and two touchdowns on just 13 carries.

[player_tooltip player_id='909079' first='Carson' last='Brinegar'] - Scott '25 WR

Junior Scott receiver [player_tooltip player_id='909079' first='Carson' last='Brinegar'] continues to put up monster numbers this season and his talent was on display yet again in their win over Logan. Brinegar set a new season high for receptions with 13 and they went for 225 yards and three touchdowns. Brinegar had a long of 70 yards and averaged 17.3 yards per catch as the Skyhawks are now a perfect 7-0.

[player_tooltip player_id='884041' first='Preston' last='Cooper'] - Scott '24 RB

The Scott Skyhawks have been throwing the ball all over the field this season and putting up huge numbers but senior running back [player_tooltip player_id='884041' first='Preston' last='Cooper'] has gone under the radar for them this season carrying the ball. Cooper rushed for 168 yards and two touchdowns on 16 carries for a 10.5 yards per carry average as the Skyhawks blew out Logan 55-9. This was Cooper's fifth game this season eclipsing the 100-yard rushing mark and now has 595 yards rushing and seven touchdowns on the year.

[player_tooltip player_id='370355' first='Dylan' last='Ours'] - Fairmont Senior '24 ATH/LB

[player_tooltip player_id='370355' first='Dylan' last='Ours'] continues to provide value to Fairmont Senior in a variety of ways and made a big impact in their narrow loss to Class AAA Morgantown. The Mohigans were able to really limit Ours in the running game but the senior found other ways to hurt them. He caught 8 passes for 149 yards and a touchdown while also intercepting a pass on defense. Ours will likely play on defense at the next level but has really broken out on offense this season for the Polar Bears.

[player_tooltip player_id='906668' first='Dominic' last='Fantasia'] - East Fairmont '25 RB

I got to watch the East Fairmont and Philip Barbour clash on stream and was certainly not disappointed as the Bees outlasted the Colts by a score of 46-36. Junior running back [player_tooltip player_id='906668' first='Dominic' last='Fantasia'] was very impressive in the game as he rushed for three touchdowns in the first half alone. Fantasia scored on runs of 4, 10, and 43 yards before East Fairmont finally took control in the 4th quarter. He was getting whatever he wanted in the first half and picking up chunk plays on every carry as the Bees get a big win over previously undefeated Philip Barbour.

[player_tooltip player_id='866523' first='Corey' last='Lyons'] - Weir '24 RB

If you look at the stat sheet and see senior Weir running back [player_tooltip player_id='866523' first='Corey' last='Lyons']' stat line you'd be pretty impressed with his numbers. However, if you knew what occurred in the game and the backstory you'd be shocked. Lyons is coming off a hamstring injury from the previous week's game and was only available in an emergency situation in their game against Martins Ferry (OH). Well, when this week's starting running back went down due to injury in the middle of the third quarter Lyons' emergency availability came into action. In less than a half of play and not at 100% health, Lyons rushed for 142 yards and four touchdowns on 16 carries and a big win for the Red Riders.

[player_tooltip player_id='370479' first='Dane' last='Hatfield'] - Herbert Hoover '25 QB/ATH

Another week, another great [player_tooltip player_id='370479' first='Dane' last='Hatfield'] performance for the Herbert Hoover Huskies as they pull out a tough 27-20 win over Wayne. Hatfield has been a terror all season for the Huskies and was dominant in the run game against the Pioneers. The big 6'4 junior carried the ball a whopping 27 times and totaled an incredible 256 yards and three touchdowns on the ground. It's extremely impressive to average nearly 10 yards per carry on 27 carries and Hatfield has been one of the premier players in Class AA this season.

[player_tooltip player_id='865701' first='Josh' last='Moody'] - Nitro '25 QB

[player_tooltip player_id='865701' first='Josh' last='Moody'] has been putting up video game numbers all season and continued that trend against his former school Buffalo. Moody and the Nitro Wildcats cruised to a 55-12 victory and he was slinging it all over the field. Moody completed 19 of 23 passes for 437 yards and an incredible eight touchdown passes in the game. He was also very efficient completing 82% of his passes and hitting numerous receivers for touchdowns. He now has 2,140 yards passing and 32 touchdowns to just 2 interceptions this season in just six games.

[player_tooltip player_id='1119584' first='Michael' last='Wines'] - Nitro '24 WR

Senior receiver [player_tooltip player_id='1119584' first='Michael' last='Wines'] was Moody's favorite receiver in their win over Buffalo as he makes his debut in our weekly standouts this season. Wines hauled in just three passes but they were three big ones. He totaled 152 yards receiving and all three catches went for scores. Wines averaged an amazing 50.7 yards per catch and had by far his best game of the season for the Wildcats.

[player_tooltip player_id='1234064' first='AJ' last='Bart'] - Lincoln '26 QB

[player_tooltip player_id='1234064' first='AJ' last='Bart'] has been an underrated quarterback this season in Class AA and has put up some big numbers in some games this year. Bart threw for five touchdowns against Robert C. Byrd in a 42-6 win over the Eagles. He completed 19 of 22 passes for 279 yards and hit senior receiver [player_tooltip player_id='882818' first='Brayden' last='Edgell'] for three of his five touchdowns. The sophomore gunslinger has now made our weekly standouts multiple times this season and the Cougars appear to have found their QB of the future.

[player_tooltip player_id='882818' first='Brayden' last='Edgell'] - Lincoln '24 WR/DB

Senior Lincoln receiver and defensive back [player_tooltip player_id='882818' first='Brayden' last='Edgell'] was [player_tooltip player_id='1234064' first='AJ' last='Bart']'s favorite target in their win over Robert C. Byrd. Edgell hauled in three touchdown passes on six catches for 140 yards and also returned a punt 55 yards for a touchdown to bring his total to four scores on the night. Edgell has been one of the state's leaders in interceptions this season and has been one of Lincoln's top playmakers all year. Look for him to be in our upcoming Midseason DB Stock Risers article in the very near future.

[player_tooltip player_id='832676' first='Noah' last='Collins'] - Clay County '25 QB

[player_tooltip player_id='832676' first='Noah' last='Collins'] has been lighting up the scoreboard and the stat sheet all season long for the Clay County Panthers and had an eye-popping stat line in their 60-38 win over Class AAA Lincoln County. Collins threw for an incredible 8 touchdowns and 319 yards as he completed 85% of his passes on 17 of 20 completions. This is now his fifth straight game of passing for at least 300 yards and he may be the most under-the-radar quarterback in West Virginia this season.

Week seven has come and gone and there were plenty of standout performers in the second week of the WV high school football season. Here are 16 athletes that stood out during week seven of the season.
