We're still 6 months away from the 2026 season, but there's no better time to predict breakout stars during the offseason who have flashed in the past but haven't fully broken out yet. The transfer landscape has yet to be finalized, which may impact some of these predictions in the future. However, here is one player from each school, listed in alphabetical order, that we believe will have a breakout season.

[player_tooltip player_id='2091010' first='Aiden' last='Weis'] is a name that could surface quickly this season at Midland Trail, especially with the Patriots graduating their leading rusher. He's built like a traditional downhill back and has experience at fullback at 5'10 210, which shows up in the way he embraces contact and finishes runs. Even though he only appeared in three games as a junior due to injury, the profile is pretty clear. Weis is a physical presence who can move the pile and wear down a defense. The opportunity is there now for him to step into a much larger workload, and how he handles that jump will define his senior year. If he takes advantage of a full offseason, Weis has a real chance to turn limited reps into a breakout campaign on both sides of the ball.

2027 WR [player_tooltip player_id='1687818' first='Terrindez' last='Bryant'] made a smooth transition into a new program at Mingo Central and gave them immediate production, finishing his junior year with 32 catches for 524 yards and five touchdowns. At 5'8 150, he wins with quickness and burst, and the numbers suggest there's still another gear he can hit as a senior. Now that he's settled in, the expectation shifts, posing the question if he can take on an even larger share of the offense and turn solid production into true game-changing output? This offseason will be important for adding strength and continuing to polish the details, but the explosiveness is already there. If the Miners look to feature him more and he handles the added attention, Bryant has a chance to close his high school career with his most complete and impactful season yet.

2027 WR [player_tooltip player_id='2132854' first='Donovan' last='Reed'] quietly put together a steady junior season at Montcalm, finishing as the Generals' second-leading receiver with 35 catches for 470 yards and two scores. He's an impressive small school athlete standing at 6'2 with a basketball background. Reed brings length and body control you can't teach. With the graduation of their starting quarterback, the storyline heading into his senior year centers on timing and chemistry, and how quickly he and the new QB get on the same page will go a long way in determining his ceiling. There's room for his production to climb, especially if the offense leans on him as a more consistent mismatch on the perimeter. This offseason is about tightening up the details and preparing to be a steady presence in a transitioning passing game. If he embraces that role, Reed has the tools to turn solid numbers into a true breakout finish to his career.

Moorefield's [player_tooltip player_id='1716501' first='Matthew' last='Iman'] didn't look like a typical freshman, and that's what makes him such an intriguing name heading into year two. At 6'2 205 as a rising sophomore, he already carries one of the more advanced frames in the 2029 class, and Moorefield wasn't shy about letting him contribute early. There's flexibility in how he can be used right now, but long-term the arrow points to linebacker, where his size and natural athletic traits give him a chance to separate as he matures. The next phase is about refinement, learning the details of the position, processing faster, and letting those physical tools show up snap after snap. With another offseason in the weight room and a full year of varsity experience behind him, Iman is positioned to make a noticeable jump and start turning early projection into tangible production on both sides of the ball.

[player_tooltip player_id='1588447' first='Tanzer' last='George'] closed his junior year looking like a different player than he was in August, and that growth is what has him sitting comfortably among the top receivers in the 2027 class. On a state championship Morgantown team, he evolved into a dependable target as the season wore on and showed up when it mattered most, then backed it up with a strong start to the offseason showing that included a PRZ Stock Up Showcase WR MVP honors and impressive testing numbers, a 4.69 in the 40 and a 9'6” broad jump, that confirm the athletic profile. What stands out is how he wins, understanding leverage, getting into defenders' cushions, and separating at the top of routes, then finishing through contact. The next step is turning that late-season surge into week-to-week dominance as a senior and continuing to stack good camp performances against top competition. If he does that, he won't just be viewed as a solid Top 10 option in the class; he'll push himself into a different tier altogether.
