Today, we will be evaluating some explosive #TN2025 quarterbacks that are worth keeping an eye on as the season progresses in week nine. Without any further ado, here’s my list of several high-level gunslingers in the Volunteer State to watch.
Highlights
At the top of my list of notable performers is Brady Hughes Brady Hughes 6'2" | 195 lbs | QB MUS | 2025 TN , a 6-foot-2, 180-pound quarterback at Memphis University School. Hughes and the Owls are coming off an impressive 28-24 win over Father Ryan last week. What stands out most about Hughes is his quick playcalling and precision in the air, hitting his receivers in stride all over the field. Hughes also impresses with his ability to withstand defensive pressure, utilizing his speed to pick up yards on the ground, stunning the defensive line with his ability to break away into the backfield. I’m additionally fond of how Hughes utilizes bursts of speed along the edge, proving he can outrun the defense and put the offense in a strong scoring position.

I am additionally impressed with Kam Alexander Kam Alexander 6'2" | 190 lbs | QB Bartlett | 2025 TN , a 6-foot-2, 180-pound quarterback at Bartlett High School. Alexander and the Panthers fell 44-20 to Germantown last week. Alexander impresses me with his consistent passing, showcasing solid arm strength and pin-point accuracy on deep passes into the backfield. Alexander’s execution and ability to find his receivers along the edge for quick passes also makes him a formiddable prospect under center. Another aspect of Alexander’s playstyle that stands out is his release and composure under pressure, proving he can stay locked in offensively and get the ball into the hands of his receivers before defensive contact.

Claiming the number three spot on my list is Jayden Neal Jayden Neal 5'11" | 195 lbs | QB Knox. Catholic | 2025 TN , a 5-foot-11, 190-pound quarterback at Knoxville Catholic High School. Neal and the Fighting Irish picked up a 47-42 victory over Brentwood Academy last week. In addition to outstanding size and speed, what impresses me the most about Neal is his ability to adapt to pressure, break tackles and consistently complete challenging deep passes. Another aspect of Neal’s playstyle that stands out is his deceptive footwork and ability to quickly catch-and-throw to his receivers off the snap, stunning opposing defenses with his electric speed and accuracy in the air.

Another skilled prospect to keep an eye on is Trey Frazier Trey Frazier 6'3" | 185 lbs | QB West Ridge | 2025 TN , a 6-foot-3, 185-pound quarterback at West Ridge High School. Frazier and the Wolves recently fell short to Jefferson County by a final score of 38-7. Frazier stands out with his footwork and ability to maneuver the pocket, utilizing his precise movement to find open receivers, showcasing his ability to make smart passes even under heavy pressure from opposing defenses. Frazier additionally stands out with his ability to complete deep passes in the backfield, showing off excellent execution and form on his throws as his receivers race the ball into the endzone.
Coming in at number five on my list is Locke Kennedy, a 6-foot-3, 180-pound quarterback at Battle Ground Academy. Kennedy and the Wildcats are coming off a 60-20 loss to Franklin Road Academy last week. At the helm of the offense, Kennedy makes a difference in the air, proving both his arm strength and precision on bullets into the backfield. Kennedy also contributes solid footwork, evading the defense as he hits his receivers in stride on clean passes along the edge. Kennedy’s passing effort has proven useful in third-down scenarios, consistently advancing production with strong execution, the ability to quickly target receivers down the field and his ability to get the ball out of his hands before the defense makes contact.

Another playmaker worth mentioning is Sam Evitts Sam Evitts 6'3" | 185 lbs | QB Sequatchie County | 2025 TN , a 6-foot-3, 185-pound quarterback at Sequatchie County High School. Evitts and the Indians recorded a 58-14 blowout victory over Community last week. What I like about Evitts is his ability to maneuver the field and scan for open receivers, proving he can make quick completions for a short pickup of yards as well as calculated deep passes into the backfield. Evitts also stands out with his composure under pressure and ability to quickly get the ball out of his hands, passing to his receivers from along the edge as well as his tight ends. Evitts also utilizes the run game, making him an unpredictable and explosive playmaker under center.
