Continue ReadingAs we come close to summer camp season, these five in-state signal callers have yet to see their recruiting take-off but sport talent and upside to make a difference on the next level. Here we provide an in-depth look at five QB’s that can go from “under the radar” and into the spotlight!
(QB) Trey Frazier Trey Frazier 6'3" | 185 lbs | QB West Ridge | 2025 State TN – West Ridge
– As we inch closer to summer camp season, Frazier has yet to see his recruitment take-off but trust me, this guy can play and he sports some of the best upside of all quarterbacks within our #TN2025 class. Bringing to the field athleticism with size and a strong right arm, Frazier is the top dual threat quarterback inside our quarterback class that shows potential to become a dangerous player on the college level due to his ability to make throws from the pocket but also use his legs to cause havoc. The Wolves senior leader does most of his best work outside the tackles where he throws on the move well but can turn up field with his legs, using his speed to get past defenders. Those traits will need to be on full display this summer in camps and this Fall during the season as Frazier still sits without the offers and wondering where his future may lie. I like this kid and his college upside but it will be interesting to see where he has progressed this off-season to push his game to another level.

(QB) Mitchell Carey Mitchell Carey 6'1" | 195 lbs | QB DCA | 2025 State TN – DCA
– One of the more under the radar quarterbacks we have in this class is this Nashville area signal caller that has some of the best passing tape in the state. Carey is a well built young man with good size and sharp mechanics that scream college potential but for one reason or another, the Wildcats quarterback sits here without offers. Competing on the D2-Class A level might be a reason for the slow recruitment but Carey can spin it and shows on film the ability to make all the throws needed to compete on the collegiate gridiron. What I like most about this 6 ‘2 passer is his arm strength and poise shown in the pocket to keep his eyes down field and deliver the ball with confidence. Carey is a tough competitor that I feel like will only get better with maturity and coaching on the collegiate level. Being that he doesn’t hold a lot of interest right now, Carey will need a big camp season to show off his talents as well as put together another big year on the field with his Wildcats team in the Fall to achieve those elusive offers.

(QB) Chandler Day Chandler Day 6'2" | 200 lbs | QB Houston | 2025 State TN – Houston
– It’s tough to be “under the radar” when you’re coming off leading your team to a state title but Day is and he heads into the summer camp months without much interest. That can definitely change as the Mustangs senior quarterback shows tools on film to compete at the next level and bring a certain skill and mindset to the backfield that teammates can get behind. This lefty signal caller is tough. Day is a hard nosed competitor that comes up clutch during key moments throughout games, making things happen both with his arm and his legs. The Mustangs senior is a dual threat quarterback but the more he grows, the more he looks to stay in the pocket to make that down the field throw. He shows a great feel for the game along with excellent command in the huddle. Day is a winner too, who has proven to lead his team to a championship, so there is a lot to like about this Memphis area quarterback and the value he brings to the quarterback and locker room.

(QB) Joseph Derrick Joseph Derrick 6'2" | 195 lbs | QB Father Ryan | 2025 State TN – Father Ryan
– Having to sit behind a future college quarterback, Derrick is now ready to take over the reins at Father Ryan where this 6 ‘2 gunslinger has a big opportunity in front of him to push his stock into the college stratosphere with a big senior year. A two sport star on the football field and diamond, Derrick is staying under the radar at the moment due to his baseball work but trust me, this can spin it! Looking over his film, Derrick shows a big arm with zip and the ability to place the ball into small windows. He also shows good poise in the pocket with his eyes staying down field, looking for his open receiver. There are a lot of tools about this Nashville area quarterback that I like and translates to the college game. He will need to continue developing his overall game while gaining the experience but the raw abilities are there. This summer in camps and his Fall football season will be critical towards earning a shot at the next level and I believe he can do it as Derrick as one of the strongest arms of all QB’s in the #TN2025 class.

(QB) Stephen Nieves Stephen Nieves 6'1" | 185 lbs | QB Columbia Academy | 2025 State TN – Ravenwood
– Biding his time while continuing to develop and learn, Nieves is finally set to step into a starting role this Fall and be “the guy” under center for his Columbia Academy offense. The Bulldogs senior signal caller has been putting in tons of work this off-season to take his game to another level and I feel like he has done that and it will show this coming football season. Sporting good size at 6’2 185 pounds with outstanding mechanics, Nieves is a true pocket passer that can make all the throws as well as provide excellent leadership. This dude loves the game. He loves being on a team and going to battle with his brothers. Where Nieves has pushed his game to the next level is with his arm strength and timing. He has worked hard this off-season to increase both those traits as well as continue to learn the game further by watching as much film as possible. It may take some time before any offers start coming his way but keep an eye out on this Mid-Tennessee quarterback as he is positioning himself to become a college quarterback one day.
