Eagle walked away with a big time victory as they outright won the 5A SIC River Division with a dominant defensive performance along with an amazing rushing attack. [player_tooltip player_id='861722' first='Noah' last='Burnham'] showed why he is considered one of the best backs in the entire state rushing for 173 yards with three touchdowns. [player_tooltip player_id='241426' first='Davis' last='Harsin'] showed his senior leadership all night going 10-17 for 149 yards and a touchdown while in complete command of Eagles offense. [player_tooltip player_id='340803' first='Seth' last='Brock'] showed why he is considered by many to be the top defender in the state with his 10 tackles but also showed his versatility as Eagles leading receiver with 5 catches for 90 yards. Mountain View showed that its futures is bright as the Mavericks sophomore quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='861736' first='Henry' last='Nelson'] who went 22-33 for 220 yards with a touchdown and an interception. Having to replace a superstar player like [player_tooltip player_id='540331' first='Justin' last='McGee'] is hard enough but the Mavericks had multiple young players step up with [player_tooltip player_id='353794' first='Tyler' last='Weaver'] having six catches for 86 yards and a touchdown. [player_tooltip player_id='891001' first='Valentin' last='Gomez-Ricks'] had 20 carries and 77 yards rushing. On defense the Mavericks were led by senior linebacker [player_tooltip player_id='711151' first='Tanner' last='Moriarty'] who ended the game with 10 tackles.

Meridian 28 - Rocky Mountain 24

Meridian showed up in a big way on Thursday to win the 5A SIC Foothill Division and prove that even with a 0-2 start to the season the Warriors are still a team to be weary of. They have a star in quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='484672' first='Zeke' last='Martinez'] who did a little bit of everything to get the win for the Warriors going 10-17 for 115 yards and a score, he also rushed for a touchdown and caught a touchdown pass. Rocky was led by sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='401581' first='Collin' last='Chapman'], going 10-12 for 143 yards and a touchdown after rotating five quarterbacks and using star players [player_tooltip player_id='378187' first='Taeshaun' last='Reese'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1136025' first='Jeff' last='Thompson']'s playmaking ability. Meridian and Rocky have a history the last few years that has finished in an epic way this years edition was nothing short of spectacular with Martinez scrambling and making a 16 yard throw for a touchdown to win it at the end.
