Nelson is having a fantastic offseason just coming off a top performer at the Polynesian Bowl in Las Vegas where a ton of top talent from around the country came to participate. He is a strong armed quarterback with plus athleticism. He is a long strider but can pick up chunk yards with his legs and does an excellent job of escaping pressure in the pocket. There isn’t a throw that he cant make on the football field and should be a name to watch as offers start flowing in during the contact period.

Nelson checks into our rankings as a top 15 prospect in Idaho, and is heading into his final season with plenty of Varsity playing experience. He threw for over 1,500 yards and 12 TD’s while having over a 50% completion percentage in 2024. Although a pocket passer, he moves smoothly in the pocket and can run when needed. Nelson also shows he can step up to evade pressure while keeping his eyes downfield and delivering the ball. He has solid mechanics in his throwing motion and gets the ball out quickly while able to fit it into tight windows with good touch over the top of defenders. Nelson shows good poise in the pocket while keeping his eyes downfield and not making bad decisions under duress. He has a good set of tools for the next level and the ideal size and frame with plenty of growth potential.

Nelson has been the leading force for the Mountain View offense with his ability to really push the football down the field and then has showed in the past couple of weeks that he can hurt teams with his legs. He has good pocket presence and has the ability to buy extra time before ripping off big time throws.

Nelson checks into our rankings as a top 10 overall player across Idaho, and the number two ranked quarterback heading into the 2024 season. He is coming off a stellar Sophomore season campaign where he threw for 1,400 yards with 15 touchdowns a 61% completion percentage. He is a big framed prospect with the ideal size for the position and is a true pocket passer with a big time arm downfield. He shows he can make quick decisions and move through his progressions quickly while able to fit the ball into tight windows with good zip on his throws with a quick/snappy release. Nelson also shows he can move well in the pocket while keeping his eyes downfield under pressure and does a god job at throwing his receivers open and putting nice touch on the ball over the top. He is a no brainer next level caliber kid that should continue drawing college interest this off-season.

Nelson is one of the premier passers in the loaded class of 2026 quarterbacks in the state of Idaho. The junior is able to get the ball out to all levels and shows off an extremely strong arm with great balance in the pocket. His ability to spread the football around the field is what makes the Mavericks offense one of the most effective in the state.

Nelson has impressed this offseason as he has showed his abilities during this early camp season. Nelson had a strong showing at the Boise State camp where he earned a workout for the Boise State coaching staff and showed why he is going to be highly recruited. Strong arm with a natural feel in the pocket and the ability to make throws in tight windows. Shows natural leadership ability and has really improved in his footwork.

Nelson is going to be a name to watch during the this summer camp season. The soon to be junior had a really good season last year during the last six games of the season. A strong arm with the ability to make every throw on the field. He shows the ability to really push the ball down the field and has a high football IQ that allows him to play more advanced than his age. Shows good pocket mobility and has enough speed to pick up yards with his legs when things breakdown. He is going to be one of the more looked at prospects this camp season.

Nelson has attended many camps and showcases this off-season, and has a very quick release, strong arm with good zip and timing on his throws while also passing the eye test as he has a big frame and strong build. Nelson can throw with the best in his class across the western region, and is poised for a monster 2024 season for what should be a very good Mountain View squad.
