Mutua is a bit of a tweener along the defensive line position but could play either inside or on the edge at the next level, depending on how much weight his frame can hold. He is extremely explosive off the ball with a quick first step, violent hands when splitting double teams and plays with the high motor at all times. He shows he can create an interior rush with active hands and natural bend in the short area while also proving to be stout against the run with good leverage and power at the point of contact. Although a bit under-sized, he is a no-brainer next level prospect and is another prospect that should continue to see his stock rising through his senior year.
Mutua is another prospect that is very interesting and a bit of a tweener between defensive end or defensive tackle. He is extremely athletic, has good twitch off the ball but has the frame to pack on weight and potentially grow into a snappy 3-tech at the next level with growth potential. He is strong at the POA, has a quick first step get off and shows a violent punch, shed and is a high motor kid that knows how to set the edge and pursue properly backside. Checking into our rankings as a top 5 defensive linemen and just inside the top 25 overall in Idaho, he is a no-brainer next level guy and a very intriguing prospect.
Mutua has been a staple at the defensive end position for the Mavericks where he is the catalyst for the defensive line. He creates matchup problems in the running and passing game where he is able to use his quickness to affect the quarterback or make tackles in the backfield.
Mutua is coming along after playing as a sophomore, but the junior is already showing why he was able to get reps early on in his high school career. His ability to rush the passer is what really separates him from many of the top players to come from Mountain View in the past couple of years. He is a name to watch as a potential break out player in the SIC.
Mutua has taken over at defensive end for the Mavericks where he will replace two of the best that have come through the Mavericks program. He more than lives up to the billing where he can set the edge with power and leverage but also shows great quickness to get up the field to disrupt pass plays. He is going to be one of the bright spots on a pretty young defense for Mountain View.
Mutua is next up in a long line of strong defensive lineman from Mountain View, with his ability to set the edge and rush the passer. Just a junior who played sparingly last season for the Mavericks, Mutua showed signs of being the next dominant defensive lineman. Strong hands with the ability to anchor at the point of attack, uses good leverage to spill plays and then has excellent track down speed. Quick get off with a high football IQ that allows him to diagnose plays quickly. He is primed for a big junior year and will be one to watch moving forward.
