This week on Prep Redzone Oklahoma, we’re putting a spotlight on some of the top 2027 prospects in the state. This is the freshmen class we’re talking about so needless to say, it’s still incredibly early in their high school career. On Monday, we released our initial 2027 watchlist. The first prospect rankings for this class will come out in January. Throughout the week, we’ll be breaking down different position groups and overall standouts in the state’s 2027 class so far. In this post, we’re putting the spotlight on three prospects that have already emerged as productive and versatile athletes. Keep it locked in throughout the week for more breakdowns on 2027 prospects. And check back every Monday in October for more prospect ranking updates!
Whenever you’re talking about El Reno football this season, the conversation usually starts with their record-setting senior running back. But the Indians have plenty of firepower elsewhere in the offense. One playmaker that we’re going to have an eye on moving forward is freshman standout Kaleb Blackwolf Kaleb Blackwolf 6’0″ | 190 lbs | ATH El Reno | 2027 State OK on the offensive side of the ball. In the offseason, Blackwolf was listed as a quarterback on the questionnaire filled out from El Reno coaches but he is an absolute dynamo with the football in his hands. Blackwolf is also a standout on the basketball floor and has already shown to be a speedster on the track. We think that Blackwolf is going to be the next dynamic playmaker for the Indians on offense.

We go to the defensive side of the ball and we like what we’ve seen from Colton McComb Colton McComb 6’2″ | 195 lbs | ATH Edmond Memorial | 2027 State OK at Edmond Memorial. A lot of attention is on McComb’s older brother David, who is a Kansas quarterback commit in the 2025 class. But Colton has already proved to be an impact player, similar to David when he was a freshman. McComb has been a defensive end and linebacker so far this season and he’s put up some good numbers. He also is a good tackler in the open field and can track the ball very well for a freshman. McComb also has done a good job as a long snapper in special teams. In last week’s win over Yukon, McComb had the game-sealing interception. We first saw McComb at our PRZ-Next camp in April and he’s now making plays on Friday nights.

There are a few twin brothers in the state’s 2027 class that we already have our eyes on but one set of twins are the Lane brothers at Newcastle. In this breakdown, we’re putting the spotlight on Jalen Lane Jalen Lane 5’9″ | ATH Newcastle | 2027 OK but keep an eye on Jordan Lane Jordan Lane 5’9″ | ATH Newcastle | 2027 OK moving forward. Both brothers are two of the top four receivers in the Newcastle offense. Jalen is tied for the lead in receiving touchdowns and he’s also second on the team in receptions. Newcastle has a few young players that we’re going to keep an eye on moving forward. The Racers play in a brutal district but don’t be surprised if these young playmakers end up making a massive impact on the district race and playoffs in November.
