It isn’t easy for underclassmen to find their way onto the big stage, and it is even harder to standout when you do earn the reps. However, the group of athletes in today’s article have defied the odds and made themselves earl names to know. So, let’s get acquainted with their game!
I have been very excited to get my eyes on some Brock Gauthier Brock Gauthier 6’2″ | 210 lbs | ATH Bay Port | 2026 State WI tape. The 6’2″ 195 lbs OLB/S hybrid is the team’s second leading tackler thanks to quickly developing recognition skills and next level range. Brock is able to cover ground, change direction, and move laterally so naturally. He closes quickly, like he was shot out of a cannon. Brock is a high IQ football player who does his job and doesn’t take himself out of position. You can rely on him to set a strong edge against the outside run too. The Prep Redzone WI Showcase MVP is looking better than ever halfway through his sophomore season.
The last film I had watched from Declan was his freshman highlights. The jump he has made over the past year is special. The body control, flexibility, and balance have taken massive leaps forward. Nason now carries and moves his impressive 6’4″ 265+ lbs frame easily and comfortably. Those improved traits have led to major development in his technique. Nason has a powerful lower body that is even more powerful when he adds leverage. The hands are heavy, and much more consistently getting inside on the DL. The big man is light on his feet, can reach defenders and adjust his position while engaged with lateral movements. The stock is definitely pointing up for Declan.
Highlights
The sophomore DB has wasted no time making a name for himself this season. Carson has already collected 4 INTs through 5 weeks and multiple PBUs. Carson’s speed has been a major key. He can find the ball and go get it, even if it isn’t targeting his man. The underclassman displays great instincts and awareness in zone coverage. His quick twitch change of direction maximizes that aforementioned range. The natural ball skills are definitely there too, and he knows what to do with it after he grabs the ball. I’m excited to move him into the ranking after the season.
