Huhn was a stock riser in the offseason after picking up six P-5 offers and has continued to prove his potential in his first season as full-time starter for Mission Hills. The 6’4”/195 sophomore added offers from Penn St. and Cal in September. He’s a highly advanced pocket-passer with elite mechanics, accuracy, arm strength, and feel for the position. He’s methodical with eyes, gets the ball out on time, and demonstrates savvy ball placement to every area of the field. Huhn currently tops San Diego’s talented group of 2026 QBs following the likes of Julian Sayin Julian Sayin 6'1" | 195 lbs | QB Carlsbad | 2024 State CA (2024) and Akili Smith Jr. Akili Smith Jr. 6'5" | 200 lbs | QB Lincoln | 2025 State CA (2025).
Carson Howard
Carson Howard
Howard has posted over 1,000 passing yards and 13 TDs with only 3 INTs in El Camino’s 4-1 start. He’s shown great navigation of the pocket, knowing where to escape the rush and shows ability to produce explosive plays downfield when extending/improvising. He’s a crafty ball-handler that can quicken his delivery to fit the ball into tight windows over the middle and float the ball over defenders with finesse when outside the pocket. Howard’s one of the top unoffered senior QBs in San Diego.
Roth has helped guide La Costa Canyon to a 4-1 record heading into Avocado League play after winning the starting job as a sophomore. He’s a tall, lanky pocket-passer (6’3”/170) that has shown ability to air the ball out and challenge defenses vertically. He moves in the pocket with light feet and shows great ball placement towards the sidelines. He shows focused mechanics/ball-handling and can add velocity into tight windows against zone. Roth’s breakout season has him positioned among the top sophomore QBs in San Diego.
Hudson Herber
Hudson Herber
Herber and senior WR Cody Bigley have established one of the most prolific connections in San Diego at the midway point of the season. Herber has shown steady improvement as a passer in his second season as the starter for Grossmont, with over 1,200 passing yards and 19 TDs through five games. He’s an accurate distributor from the pocket that can hit targets over the middle of the field and make plays with his legs when needed. Herber and the Grossmont offense will face tough challenges in league play with matchups against Helix and Granite Hills in October.
Highlights
DeMara has been a bright spot in University City’s 0-5 start with a section-leading 1,274 passing yards and 11 TDs and another 4 TDs rushing. He excels as an improviser with great escapability and ability to find receivers on the run. He’s slippery behind the LOS and does a good job of keeping his eyes downfield when keeping plays alive. City will look to post their first win with league play starting this Friday at Cathedral Catholic.
