Roth completed in 68 percent of his passes for 199 yards per game with 30 touchdowns and just one interception for a La Costa Canyon team that reached the Open Division playoffs in San Diego.
He is mechanically sound with a smooth delivery and knows when to put heat on the ball and when to put air under it. Roth is good at making quick decisions and has great timing with his receivers. He isn’t a dual-threat guy but he is athletic enough to escape the pocket and buy time for his receivers to get open.
The University of San Diego and Western New Mexico have offered Roth.
Roth just picked up his first D-I offer from San Diego this week. The 6’3″/175 QB out of La Costa Canyon has been on the PRZ radar since his standout sophomore season and continued to show great development as a passer leading LCC to a 10-1 record with over 2,200 passing yards and 31 TDs this past fall. He’s a talented, efficient passer that completed 70% of his passes as a junior and takes great care of the football (only 6 INTs last season). Look for Roth to pick up some momentum on the recruiting trail with his first offer in hand.
Roth has had a very nice off-season so far, and has shown he is one of the top passers across southern California, and should have a big season for the San Diego Section power. He shows good throwing mechanics, can drive the ball downfield into tight windows and puts good zip on the ball at the first two levels both in the pocket and on the run. He is a on-schedule thrower that can process quickly and moves defenders with his eyes before delivering. On the run, he shows he can throw with accuracy without losing zip on the ball when throwing across his body and is a threat to tuck it and run if needed with plus athleticism inside and outside the pocket. He is looking to be a next level steal here down the stretch, and is in line for a huge Senior season.
