The Tennessee Future Stars defense showed some promise early with a couple of three and outs, but once TN converted a fake punt, they got momentum and confidence which turned into more points. Below I will highlight who I feel made the best of their opportunities in this talent filled Classic.
Cole Scraggs Cole Scraggs 5’7″ | 155 lbs | RB Knoxville Catholic | 2027 TN closed out his middle school football career in typical Cole Scraggs Cole Scraggs 5’7″ | 155 lbs | RB Knoxville Catholic | 2027 TN fashion, by winning the Offensive MVP for the Tennessee Future Stars. Though the Volunteer State came up on the losing end, Scraggs’ effort was unquestioned on every play he was on the field. He chipped away with short runs here and there, before finally breaking through just seconds into the fourth quarter with a touchdown run, to make the score 23-12–where it would eventually end.

Sanders took the first play of the second offensive possession 65 yards to help spark Tennessee reaching pay dirt. Throughout the game he displayed good contact balance and ran hard for every inch. A lot of times getting hit immediately or having to avoid a defender as soon as he got the ball. After a few attempts trying to stretch the line of scrimmage by getting Sanders the ball in a swing route, he mostly took what was there. Minus a slip late in the game, he had potential on another highlighted run that could have closed the gap some on the scoreboard. I like his skill set in the backfield and hope to see him flourish at the next level once he gets with a more consistent O-Line.

At 6’1 and still growing, Mr. Adams scans the field well delivering accurate throws. Unfortunately, a good amount of balls were dropped by his receivers that would have been a game changer for Team Tennessee. You could see his athleticism when he got flushed out the pocket a few times and seemed comfortable still getting the ball to the right read on the move. During a must have 4th and 4, Adams pulled the ball reading the left defensive end for a 13 yard scamper to keep the drive alive. Overall the touch on his short to deep throws were impressive.
At close to 6’4 and weighing 250 pounds you better bring your lunch with you, because it it going to be a long day trying to make plays across from Chris Campbell Chris Campbell 6’4″ | 265 lbs | OL Southwind | 2027 TN . Playing right tackle all game he looked good quick setting, and kept them bear claws ready to punch. He also made good choices when the ball was thrown quickly to his side by not getting downfield too fast or making sure his butt was pointed at his quarterback and shoulders square to contact point. Campbell put more extra effort plays on film then not. When you’re this big, it’s hard to hide when you take plays off and my man didn’t for four quarters. With more development, this young man is only going to become more special.
Tennessee struggled to put points up on the day overall, yet nonetheless, they wasted little time getting actually getting on to the scoreboard. On the team’s second possession they put up six with a spectacular 10-yard touchdown reception by Bowman. The 6-foot-1, 165-pound wide receiver displayed elite body control as he turned his body 180 degrees in mid-air to catch a beautiful back corner ball from Andre Adams Andre Adams 6’1″ | 175 lbs | QB Antioch | 2027 TN . Bowman has all the necessary tools to become a big time college prospect and showed everyone watching on that play, exactly why I say that.
Cayden came ready to compete and was a big reason Tennessee made a push late to try and flip the scoreboard. The most impressive thing I saw during the game was an 8th grade QB not afraid to be hit. Kentucky did a great job bringing pressure, but Cayden did not flinch still delivering the ball outside knowing there would be contact afraid his release. This shows big time maturity and a will to win. He also led his targets across the middle allowing them to run after the catch. You could see his eyes staying busy and threw a late touchdown to his running back to cut the lead in half.
