Continue ReadingElliott is someone I enjoy watching, and every time I see him he has improved from the last time. He’s got a good arm for the deep ball, but his touch on intermediate and short dump-offs has steadily improved, which made him a pretty easy choice for the QB spot on this list. I think he’s still not a household name all over the state, which is why I still believe he’s a bit underrated. Overall, I think if he continues to improve on accuracy and decision making/ defense reading, Larner could turn a ton of heads, and get to that next tier of gunslingers in the state.
Everything I see and hear from Stark, is that he stands out from the crowd. While his production has been pretty good, I think this fall he will really burst onto the scene, especially playing in a heavily recruited conference. Once he starts to really fill out as he matures, he’s going to be a stud. Nathan is dual threat, with good hands out of the backfield, along with very good running ability and vison, and he pretty much always falls forward for extra yardage. I’m expecting a breakout season this fall.
Highlights
Jayden’s ability can not be overstated. A flat out freak athlete with a ton of natural ability, but he’s also a super hard worker that is constantly trying to get better. Terry is at just about every camp, workout and showcase he can be at, and that hard work is showing, as there are a ton of colleges waiting in line to make their pitch. We have him ranked highly in his class already, but don’t be shocked if he skyrockets up the list this fall. He doesn’t do a ton of dancing in the backfield. He hits the hole, makes 1 cut and he’s gone. As he fills out, continues to build strength, muscle and quickness, he’s only going to improve. Look for this guy to be one of the best PLAYERS in the state, not just in his class.
Highlights
Jack was behind a very talented group of guys last season, so his overall production doesn’t tell the whole tale for this kid. During the playing time he did get, he showed really good hands and elite athleticism. Janda Can catch in traffic, and when he gets the ball in the open space, he can rumble his way through a secondary and rack up the YAC! I think he’s a bit underrated because his stats from this season didn’t pop off the page, but I can see that changing for his sophomore season.
Myles is one that seems a bit underrated to me, due to some of the other players on his team, but do not get it twisted, he’s got huge upside. I just got to see him work in person again at the CMU Big Man Camp, and he’s made strides since last year. He looks to have a more solid platform with good balance, doesn’t lunge nearly as much, and I think just has more overall aggression. I’m excited to see him this fall put it all together, as I think he will. Colleges should get their eyes on him now because once his recruiting takes off it’s only going up from here.
Fredy is absolutely nasty. He initiates the contact, brings a devastating blow when he pulls, and when he gets to the 2nd level, linebackers and DB’s better move out of the way. I love watching his film, as he truly is an old school, hardnose, aggressive lineman with a ton of potential. He’s still going to need to hone in that raw ability and aggression, which is way easier than trying to go the other way. I’m pumped to see him this year, as I think he could make a strong case for an even higher ranking not only in his class, but overall in the state. He’s going to need some molding, but the materials are all there for Diaz.
Highlights
Adam could surprise some folks this year with another offseason under his belt. Travers is another fun film to watch, as he finishes blocks and loves to go find someone to hit. He definitely needs a little bit more filling out, but that will come. He’s got a good starting base currently, as his footwork, ability to maintain a low center of gravity and aggression should serve him nicely. If he wants to take himself to the next level, I think more work in pass protection and crushing more work in the weight room will get him a lot closer! I’m excited to see what improvements he has made, and where he stacks up in one of the toughest conferences out there.
I recently got to see Emmett work on some 1 on 1 drills, and I came away really impressed. He had really good fundamentals, and was keeping a lot of very solid defensive linemen at bay. He’s got some size, but he’s got room to improve, which I think he will as everyone says he’s a hard worker, and from what I observed it really appeared that way. Emmett will have a lot of opportunities to test himself against really good opponents this fall, and I think he should find himself on a lot more radars than he currently is. I hope to see him work this fall, and watch his improvement as I think he’s got really good potential.
Elijah Cottrell
Elijah Cottrell
Elijah is another one I could have put down for offense or defense, but I think his still on offense is underrated. He loves to finish blocks, and has good footwork. He is good in pass protect, and is agile to move and get to the next level in the run game to block downfield. I think he could really be molded into something special, and I think this season he’s going to really catch people off guard. He is starting to get some attention, as he’s getting some invites to some camps, but still probably not enough. Keep an eye out for Cottrell this fall, as his stock could rise quickly if he performs against a couple opponents. I’m looking for him to perform against Gladwin, who has a really impressive defensive line.
