The tight end position is a very fun one to evaluate in my opinion. It's one of the most underrated positions in football, and the skillsets can vary wildly from player to player. Below are some of the top tight ends in this class right now and what their major strengths are. Take note of how many different kids of TEs we have!

Shane is a man amongst boys out there. This is a really good example of a hybrid guy. He can really do it all. From blocking in line with good power and technique, to releasing and being a safe target over the middle, to even splitting out and working in space, there isn't a glaring weakness to his game. Pair that with his great size and physical frame, and it's no wonder the FBS teams are already kicking the tires. He's already our top TE, and is continuing to soar up our boards.

AJ is a very unique case. Very rarely will you see AJ lined up tight to the line. AJ does his best work on the outside, posing a legitimate nightmare for defenses to line up against. His straight line speed, superb agility and lanky frame make him incredibly hard to stop. Henley specializes in stretching the defense vertically and stressing our safeties with how easily he can get behind them. With nearly 20 FBS offers and counting, it's a testament to how versatile and dangerous AJ is.

Beyer is your classic big, physical, nasty TE. Largely lined up tight to the formation, he's a relentless blocker who loves to flatten opponents in the run game. Despite that being his major strength, he is certainly willing and able in the passing game. He has a nice release that allows him to get free early, and reliable hands that are a quarterbacks best friend when the pressure is on and the pocket is collapsing. The Grand Haven product is certainly a mismatch that has a profound impact on his offenses performance.

Rocco is at a great spot to get developed. Saline has a phenomenal track record of not only developing great tight ends, but understanding their use and getting creative on how they utilize their guys. Rocco can really mix it up and be versatile. He can line up tight and do the dirty work in the run game, but gets rewarded by getting out on the boundary and bullying smaller defensive backs by boxing them out and making catches that defenders can't do much about. I love his quick first step and the change of direction that wins him plenty of separation to give his QB a window. Super excited to see Rocco continue his development because the sky is the limit!

Shane came out to our event in the spring and really caught my eye. After doing some more homework, I really love his game. He is another that has no issue doing some dirty work as a road grading blocker, but he is undoubtedly at his best running across the middle and finding the soft spots in the zone. His instincts are great and he shows time and time again that he knows when to move, when to sit and how to attack the way defenses are playing him. Shane is an incredibly cerebral player that also has the physical tools to be a formidable challenge.
