Most Valuable Player At Each Position
Will Wood was the standout quarterback amongst a pretty strong group. It only took a few throws for Wood to separate himself with ball placement and velocity on his throws that was at a very high level. Wood also moves well, throws well on the run and showcased his ability to make every throw asked of him at camp.
Highlights
Xavier Bala Xavier Bala 5’11” | 195 lbs | RB St. Anthony’s | 2027 NY is the next big thing out of New York and we saw why at the showcase. Bala has good measurables and was one of the best athletes at the camp. Bala killed it 1v1s where he consistently created seperation. LBs couldnt cover Bala and it came to no suprise. One of the top RBs in 2027 continues to showcase the ability to standout in camps.
There were a ton of really talented receivers at camp but the top guy was Zakai Murphy Zakai Murphy 6’0″ | 170 lbs | WR Don Bosco Prep | 2027 NJ . Really advanced route runner and really solid hands there was a lot to like about Murphy. Murphy had some really nice releases against press and even had a few reps at DB where his athleticism was showcased. Murphy was consistently winning his reps and comes away as the top WR.
Carter Smith Carter Smith 5’10” | 300 lbs | OL Donovan Catholic | 2027 NJ was amongst a couple really solid OL and he just stood out with his power and ability to anchor and re-anchor against bull rushes. There was a lot of DL talent to go against and Smith was winning a lot of reps and very competitive in others. Good footwork and a good base allowed Smith to utilize some serious strength against quicker pass rushers who had some size and strong bull rushes.
Highlights
Osiris Niven Osiris Niven 6’2″ | 210 lbs | DL New E was really solid and showcased some really polished pass rush moves and the ability switch it up and execute multiple different pass rush plans. Niven won a lot with his ability to use quickness and strength in addition to really solid length in his arms but some of the adjustments and counter moves he made is what was most impressive. Very polished for 2028 and a very bright future.
Highlights
Chè Patrick worked against a ton of super small twitchy running backs and at 200lbs he was able to really stick with them in coverage. Not many 200lb LBs can move like Patrick does let alone 8th grade 200lb football players. He moves his hips really well and can change direction quickly helping him close on the ball and make plays at the catch point on routes in front of him. Really solid performance on 1v1s from Patrick.
Brady Williams Brady Williams 5’10” | 155 lbs | DB Brookfield | 2027 New E was winning reps wherever he lined up, as a DB he made even some of the top wideouts really struggle to create any space. Williams also did a really good job of finishing plays, getting his hand on the ball and working through contact to break up passes. Williams is a stud and was probably in contention with Wood for the top overall player at camp.
Honorable Mention MVP
Jaylin Bullock Jaylin Bullock 6’1″ | 215 lbs | QB St. Peter’s Prep | 2027 State NJ had a solid day throwing the ball, the athletic traits are clearly there and the arm talent is undeniable. Bullock can change his footwork, arm angle, and upper body to get throws off from awkward positions. He does a great job of maintaining his velocity on the run and had some really nice touch on his deep throws.
Simon Fassberg Simon Fassberg 6’0″ | 185 lbs | QB Lawrenceville | 2027 NJ is a true pocket passer type and was really solid throughout the day. Accuracy was his top trait and he was able to consistently hit guys in stride 1v1. Fassberg was amongst the second tier of quarterbacks in individual drills but stood out in 1v1s with his anticipation and ball placement on throws. A really solid quarterback who already has recruitable measurables.
Highlights
Austin Busso Austin Busso 5’11” | 160 lbs | WR Bergen Catholic | 2027 State NJ is fast and even that can’t comprehend his athleticism. Busso has elite quickness and twitch and is really a developed route runner. Busso never does too much in his routes but just enough to really create seperation and leave CBs lost. Busso also has some really good hands and has the ability to get contest balls even with a smaller frame.
Highlights
Jerome Dawson Jerome Dawson 5’8″ | 155 lbs | DB CBA-Albany | 2027 NY had a up and down 1v1 session because the tendency to get overaggressive and lose all his leverage. However, when Dawson was relaxed and patient he was as sticky as any other cornerback in coverage. He is a really good athlete with really solid closing speed and knows how to read routes as they progress and understands how to win with leverage down the field. More patience and poise could have really made Dawson an MVP candidate but there were a few very quality reps in there worth mentioning.
