Every Friday during February through April, we’re going to throw on the tape and break down athletes across Oklahoma. Last month, we put out a tweet asking prospects in the 2024-2026 classes to send us their film for our Film Review feature. Over 150 responses later and we’re off to the races. We’ve reviewed 75 prospects all over Oklahoma so far and we’re not close to slowing down. Keep it locked in to Prep Redzone Oklahoma every Friday for more breakdowns on athletes across Oklahoma. This week, we put out not one, but two Film Reviews and this is part one! Click here to check out part two!
If you’re not featured this week but have sent us your film, don’t worry! You’re on the list and will be covered in the future. Now, all of these breakdowns are based on the film we have access to. And this isn’t just a puff piece. While the majority of the breakdowns will be positive, it will also include areas to improve, question marks and more for the prospect to work on as we head into the spring and summer.
We have Broken Arrow 2024 standout Derrick Osmond Derrick Osmond 6’6″ | 245 lbs | ATH Broken Arrow | 2024 State OK listed as a tight end but that might be changing very soon. After watching his film on offense and defense from his junior season, we were very impressed with what he was able to do on the defensive side of the ball. As a stand up defensive end, Osmond is an absolute monster coming off the edge and has a variety of moves to beat opposing offensive tackles. One that really stood out was his swim move going to the inside as he beat several different offensive tackles. Osmond also did a good job absorbing blocks on running plays, waiting until the right moment and shedding them with authority and making a play on the ball carrier. On offense, Osmond showed all the traits he showed on defense with his physicality. And with Broken Arrow having two running backs eclipse 1,000 yards, Osmond was doing a lot of blocking throughout the season. Another underrated part of his film was how many clips he had against some of Broken Arrow’s best opponents like Jenks, Owasso and Union. Osmond has a bright future on either side of the ball.

Lawton MacArthur seems to always have players like 2024 standout Dominic Collins Dominic Collins 5’8″ | 140 lbs | ATH MacArthur | 2024 State OK every season. Collins lines up primarily as a safety on the Lawton MacArthur defense and then also is a fiend in the special teams department. Collins had a few returns last season where he showed off his ability to be very slippery in the open field, taking a punt back for a touchdown. It definitely has us wondering what his potential could be if he also played a little offense and was used as a slot receiver or anything else where they get the ball in his hands. Nevertheless, he’s going to be one of the more feared return men in Class 5A next season. On defense, Collins was a hard hitter from the safety position which was somewhat surprising considering he’s around 5’10 so he’s a smaller prospect at the safety position. But our curiosity also has us wondering what he would be like if he lined up primarily as a cornerback. Collins is really good in coverage and he’s definitely a 2024 prospect we’re going to keep an eye on moving forward. His film was impressive to watch.

So when we come across a name like Bethany 2026 standout Evenson Malaska Evenson Malaska 6’0″ | DB Bethany | 2026 State OK we already have an opinion before we even throw on the tape. The last name stands out as older brother Jocelyn is now at Utah. So the genetics are at a D1 level. Then you throw on the tape and the tape matches what coaches have told us about the younger Malaska and that is that he’s more advanced at this stage in his career. Granted, Evenson began playing football at a younger age and was ready when he stepped into high school last fall. Another thing that really took us by surprise was the instincts he plays with on the field. It’s not very often that you see some of the plays that Malaska made from a freshman from an instinct perspective. He was outstanding in man to man coverage and appears to be one of, if not the best cover corners in the 2026 class. So right now, there isn’t much to critique about the younger Malaska because he is just a freshman. One question is his size but he still has three more years of varsity football so he should continue being one of the top 2026 guys moving forward.
Bethel has some really talented prospects in the 2025 class but our spotlight right here is on a 2024 prospect in Jacob Fortin Jacob Fortin 6’1″ | 170 lbs | ATH Bethel | 2024 OK at the wide receiver and defensive back position. Up first is his offensive film from his junior season and there’s no doubt that he’s also a standout on defense. Fortin loves to block down field for his teammates and really just loves being physical any time he’s on the field. One play in particular that caught our eye was after he made a catch in the open field. Instead of looking for an open lane to run, he put a bullseye on the safety’s chest and lowered the shoulder to run through him. Needless to say, Fortin is a hard-hitter and that came across on the defensive film that we watched. He’s also a good tracker of the football. Whether it’s watching the quarterback and being in the right place or running down a ball carrier, Fortin takes good angles to get from Point A to Point B. His overall physical play reminds us of a linebacker and based on his size, he could very well be that when it comes to being a prospect to play college football.
Our final prospect on this week’s breakdown is Millwood 2025 offensive and defensive lineman Prince Gabriel Prince Gabriel 6’1″ | 270 lbs | DL Millwood | 2025 State OK and we continue to be impressed with the level of talent in Millwood’s 2025 class. Gabriel doubles as an offensive and defensive lineman and after watching his film on both sides of the ball, we really don’t have a preference for which side of the ball we like more. On offense, Gabriel is an outstanding blocker with an incredibly high motor. He has to have the stamina for being a beast on both sides of the line of scrimmage. The motor is high and that’s evident when he’s constantly blocking down field and looking for anyone to put his hands on. That physicality also translates to the defensive side of the ball where he has very quick hands and a fast get off that gives him an advantage against most offensive linemen. He also has terrific strength so even when he’s not using his quickness and speed, he has the power moves to just bull rush an opponent. Now, he’s listed at 6’0 and 230 pounds so he’s the definition of a “tweener” as far as being a prospect. But he’s just a sophomore.
