Continue ReadingI hope everyone is enjoying the new PRzMN 2025 official rankings update as well as yesterday’s feature highlighting the top newcomers to the Top-105. The rankings require a lot of hard work, and as a superfan and fanatic of Minnesota high school football it can be a painful process ranking kids I respect and love to watch, but it’s overall a helpful tool in bringing exposure and visibility to Minnesota football players, which is the #1 goal at PRzMN, always. Before we get into which athletes rose their stock and made a climb up the rankings since the last update, I want to quickly highlight some takeaways from the rankings and its process for our readers, something I’m going to repeat in the rest of the rankings content from the 2025. 1) The rankings are fluid, have another official update coming before the season, and are far from solidified. The 2025s have a lot of football left and the rankings are going to grow as I gather more names. 2) If your name isn’t on the rankings or watchlist at this time, I didn’t mean any disrespect and am not leaving you off purposefully. Feel free to shoot me a DM, email me at oliver@prepredzone.com, or create a profile for yourself under our “Become a Prospect” route at the top right of your screen at our site so I can add you to my personal database, as well as PRzMN’s. 3) My criteria for getting ranked and where you are ranked is something I am comfortable talking about as long as you ask respectfully! Feel free to contact me if you’re curious. I’ll get into more in the rest of our 2025 features, but for now please enjoy the MN 2025 class top stock risers from the previous update. Keep up the great work, fellas!

Wedel did himself a big favor and put himself on the map early, attending a PRzMN Showcase as a freshman and putting up strong athletic numbers at a then 6’4, 220 lbs. It was a no-brainer to continue following him closely, and the Chaska Hawk 2025 had an excellent offseason going into the fall of 2022, growing into a massive and athletic LB who started 10 games for a 5A perennial contender and a hotbed of college football talent. To go along with his great film, Wedel came to December’s PRzMN Stock-Up Showcase and again put up eye-popping numbers for his size and age. At a verified 6’5 and 235 lbs., Wedel ran two 5.09 40s, a 4.63 and 4.53 short-shuttle, and a 9’2″ broad jump for one of the best overall testing performances at either session of competition. Mobile and athletic enough to play ILB, Wedel’s size is too hard to ignore and was an eye-catcher at the Showcase and screams big-time football frame. It would project strongly to the DL in college and potentially high school depending on how he continues to grow, but on film he’s a quality LB, able to pursue and make plays in the pass game and in space while adding a mean pass rush from the OLB spot. Change of direction skills, balance, closing speed, and overwhelming strength and size at the point of contact makes him dynamic in space or at the edge of the LOS. I think it’s only a matter of time before P5 offers start rolling in.

We’ve been bringing attention to the younger Swinney for years now and I hope he feels the hype and hard work starting to pay off, as he became one of only a handful of MN 2025s to hold a college offer at this point in time after Northern Arizona reached out on January 18th. The younger brother of Cal-Berkeley RS Sophomore offensive lineman Bastian Swinney, Swinney is already showing off some of the patented Swinney size, clocking in at 6’4, 210 lbs. as a sophomore WR in 2022. Playing at the X, Swinney put a ton of good things on film from the fall. Able to block opponents out of frame or into the turf with ease, he’s also quick in his releases at the LOS, shifty at the top of the route and able to cleanly break and cut off his routes at the second level of the field, and my favorite trait of the bunch, shows a ton of juice after the catch. His route running is overall strong for his size and age, he’s obviously athletic from the film, and I came away from his sophomore tape very impressed and excited for his future. TE is most likely in his future depending on how he continues to grow, and that has me very excited as well. Heckuva skillset on the young Edina Hornet and another potential P5 and national recruit out of the young MN 2025 class.

With how high-quality the Farmington Tigers strength & conditioning program is it shouldn’t come as a surprise that an underclassman from the program would find themselves ranked highly amongst his peers throughout the state. WR/ATH Brock Wyandt is a good one, and is coming off a sophomore season of varsity action at the WR, RB, kick return, and LS spots that culminated in a 6A Metro-Gold All-District HM nod. The younger brother of former Apple Valley QB Tim Wyandt, 6′, 165 lb. Brock put up some good testing numbers at our recent PRzMN Stock-Up Showcase and posted a 4.72 40, a 4.34 short-shuttle, 9′ broad jump, and 7.01 L-drill for a nice blend of speed, quickness, and explosiveness. It makes sense why he’s a 6A varsity starter already, and on tape you get to see all of those qualities in action. Wyandt made a couple athletic, one-handed catches last season to show off some flash, and also shows off a ton of speed out of his breaks, burst from a dead stop, ball skills, and some blocking capability. It’s a nice athletic package, and if he can continue to add weight and muscle, as well as develop more tackling breaking and big play ability and he’ll continue to see his name climb up the rankings. Keep it up, Brock!

The Alexandria Cardinals have a solid crop of ’25ers coming up on their roster and with the legacy and tradition of OL prospects manufactured in the Great State of Minnesota, you need to pay special attention to the young maulers and trench warfare specialists coming up in the Land of 10,000 Lakes. Martinson, a 6’4, 290 lb. OC and DT, already has great size for an interior lineman and is a strong and natural finisher when blocking. He does a good job of keeping his hands on an opponents chest plate, has some initial pop, and can drive a defender into the turf and on his butt off a couple steps. Also looks mobile and comfortable when working to the second level and in pass pro. His force at the point of attack as a sophomore is a big reason for his stock rising and I’m quite keen to see how he develops and works this offseason. One of my roommates and college football teammates was an Alexandria grad, so as always, Go Cards!

North Branch High School has a heckuva LB playing for Bethel University right now in Thomas Wurdemann and had a heckuva 2023 prospect in UW-River Falls TE commit Adam Johnstone Adam Johnstone 6’4″ | 220 lbs | TE North Branch Area | 2023 MN , but have an up-and-comer with even more potential in 2025 6’1, 180 lb. LB/RB Nolen Volner. The sophomore was fast and athletic enough to even get safety reps in 2022, which worked to highlight his sideline-to-sideline pursuit range from either position and comfortability at tackling in space. He’s got range in coverage as well, and I like his understanding of leverage and holding the edge of a defense. Also a strong tackler who can easily slip under and around blocking attempts. Volner laid some big hits in 2022 and is a valuable defensive asset with a ton of good football left in front of him. I’m interested to see how he continues to grow and develop his game.

The Maple Grove Crimson have one of the most talented 2025 classes in the state with size and depth on both offense and defense. One of the frontrunners of the group is 6’2, 185 lb. wide receiver Dylan Vokal, a varsity contributor on the 6A state championship winning 2022 Crimson squad who is also a standout baseball player for MG. Vokal also contributed as a returner on the Maple Grove varsity special teams, one of the toughest positions in football, and created splash plays with the ball in his hands no matter where he lined up at. Big-bodied but fast, especially once he hits top speed, Vokal’s body control and soft hands helped him reel in some tip-toeing sideline catches and force some broken tackles, not to mention how he can complete catches through contact. He’s a fearless, tough, and physical wideout and returner who also possesses a ton of finesse in his skillset. The Maple Grove roster is in good hands with this 2025 class and Vokal is going to a beast the next two seasons of competition. Great job this season, young buck!

Champlin Park have themselves a good one at a premium position in 2025 DE Michael Bruggers. I heard a ton of good things about this dude during the season from opposing coaches and he backed up the sentiments with the film, production, and in-person evaluation from the recent PRzMN Stock-Up Showcase. Playing against big school, 6A competition, Bruggers posted 9 TFLs and 8 sacks in 2022, and measures in at a verified 6’2, 225+, with a 5.18 40, 4.54 short-shuttle, 8’8″ broad jump, and 7.09 L-drill. On tape, Bruggers can beat blocks with his first step, bend, power, lateral agility and/or hand usage, with a ton of closing speed and aggressiveness at the contact point. You can see opposing OTs second guessing and already on their heels as they anticipate what Bruggers may do on this particular pass rush. He’s a heckuva athlete at the 5T position and is going to be one of the state’s most dangerous pass rushers the next two seasons. If he can keep growing, adding mass and muscle in the weight room, and elevating/refining his pass rush repertoire he will have a boatload of college suitors come knocking soon.

Especially in regards to Outstate MN, the Blooming Prairie Awesome Blossoms have a loaded 2025 batch of talent, along with arguably the best mascot name in the state. At 6’4, 285 lbs., Krueger has been on my radar since he was a freshman, but he took some big steps forward in 2022 as a sophomore playing on the OL for Blooming Prairie. There is one particular rep of him playing OG that I can’t get out of my head, where around :30 seconds into the sophomore film you see Krueger easily toss a DT aside and onto the ground, then take off downfield and lead block on a screen like a 6’4, 280 lb. fullback or TE before getting his hands on a frightened DB and shove him out of the way and out of the play. It was a strong display of mobility for the young bruiser, and in the rest of the tape you see a blocker with strong hands, violent leg drive, and a want and knack for finishing opponents into the ground. Krueger is definitely effective at it, and I also like what I see from him pulling and pass setting. There’s still some ways to go but it’s a more than solid foundation to start things off as a Top-25 ranked sophomore. Yet another exciting offensive linemen to keep track of!

The Chatfield Gophers have been a mainstay in the state championship conversation for 2A the past few years and graduate one of the bests to ever do it in the maroon & white. However, there’s another potential big-named prospects coming up through the ranks as we speak in 6’3, 230 lb. lineman Ethan Cole. I particularly like the sophomore from his DL spot, where his get-off propels him into the backfield like he’s shot out of a cannon. With great length and the base and power to work through combo blocks, I’m also very impressed with the body control, quickness, and overall mobility of Cole when he pulls across the LOS or has to block and operate in space. He runs, pursues, changes direction, and can drop his hips and break down like a much smaller prospect, which is a testament to his athleticism and body control at 6’3, 230 lbs. His skillset and playstyle pop off the tape and make for a fun watch that one can’t help but think belongs in a high-level college football room. Must-know name from Southern MN, regardless of class.

Another fantastic young offensive line prospect with high potential and a bright future, 6’3, 250 lb. Axel Lorenz comes out of powerhouse Mankato West and their 2022 5A state championship runner-up squad. As a RG, Lorenz has a crushing initial punch that shows up in dominant fashion when he’s pulling or dropping in pass pro. With nimble feet, power in his upper and lower body, and a violent, in-your-face blocking style, he manhandled opponents in 2022 and shows off the technique, attitude, raw strength, and powerful base to control and go head-to-head with any and all rushers and DL in the state. You don’t see his kind of physical dominance and strength in underclassman blockers too often.

The #1 specialist in the state of Minnesota’s 2025 class is another standout sophomore with talented bloodlines, as East Ridge kicker Luke Ryerse is the younger brother of Golden Gopher kicker Grant Ryerse, also an East Ridge graduate who had a cannon of a leg on his 6’4, 220 lb. frame. Younger brother Luke shares some of the same well-built proportions, and already is 6’1, 200 lbs. and has an All-District nod for kicking and punting under his young belt. He’s also a strong baseball player. Luke booted massive punts of 69 yards, 58 yards, 45 yards, and a ton more 40+ yarders, with great hang time that put the returner under pressure and visible accuracy to hit coffin corners or pin the ball in particular spots of the field. He also hit 25 touchbacks on kickoff, hit an onside kick in the state quarterfinals, and was 5/6 on FGs, completing a 36, 35, 31, and 25-yarder, and also showcased his athleticism as a QB on the sophomore team. He’s already the total package as a specialist with a ton of football left in his high school career. Get at him now!

Another impressive Maple Grove Crimson sophomore who is a part of the talented defensive line group of the MN 2025s showing some impressive early mettle, Sam Hanson is a 6’2, 215 lb. DE who helped the Crimson’s varsity reach big dog status as the big school state champion in 2022. With a strong, powerful, and compact frame, Hanson can beat blocks at initial contact thanks to his pop and low pad level and showed he can hold a gap through an onslaught of multiple blocking attempts. He’s a strong kid who got better as the season went on and had himself a notable state playoff performance, especially at U.S. Bank Stadium. Hanson is a strong kid with as much thump as anyone on the rankings and knows how to use it. He’s only getting stronger too! Next season is going to be a big one for the young Crimson defensive lineman.
