. A kid who has been on our radar for years now, and is also a PrepRedzoneMN Showcase Top Performer and standout, Cole is in the midst of a monster senior season and is looking to cap off his prep career with some hardware. Cole earned and committed to North Dakota after an awesome in-person camp performance, one of the most exciting ways a commitment can occur, and it was a long time coming given how dominant Cole has been over the course of his high school career. Cole’s senior tape is no different, as he’s a dominant and overwhelming combination of size, speed, and strength from his DE spot who is a complete game-wrecker and the most athletic player on the field. Whether as a standup EDGE or hand-in-the-dirt DE lining up outside of the tackle, Cole owns a good get-off and first step, closes quickly for a big guy, and comes off the edge with some noticeable and impressive play speed. He displays lead in his hands and good pop at initial contact, as well as effective hand usage, and can run the hoop and win at the top of the arc. He can shock & shed and get off blocks, attack blockers with his outside shoulder free and proper leverage, and is a wrecking ball of an iOL or OT that can send defenders backward and even off their feet at the snap. Cole’s lateral agility helps him pull off harder blocks such as reaches and seals around the LOS and I love his effort, play speed, and balance at 6’3, 240 lbs. He has an awesome rep near the end of his midseason tape showing off finding work and lead blocking for his RB in space and far downfield and the body control, quickness, and physicality make him dominant against second and third-level defenders. North Dakota got a STUD! No ifs, ands, or buts about it.

Cole is one of the more explosive athletes coming out of his stance, as you are going to see. The Chatfield Gopher takes away any angle an offensive lineman might have on him. Cole is practically across the line of scrimmage before the offensive lineman is out of his stance. When he gets to the ball, he is a powerful tackler. If his initial burst off the line doesn’t get it done, he uses his upper body well. He keeps lineman off his body and literally throws blockers off him. His quickness translates well to the offensive line. He pulls across the formation about as quickly as an athlete his size can expect.

Rose his stock from the watchlist to #29 overall!
The Chatfield Gophers have been a mainstay in the state championship conversation for 2A the past few years and graduate one of the bests to ever do it in the maroon & white. However, there’s another potential big-named prospects coming up through the ranks as we speak in 6’3, 230 lb. lineman Ethan Cole. I particularly like the sophomore from his DL spot, where his get-off propels him into the backfield like he’s shot out of a cannon. With great length and the base and power to work through combo blocks, I’m also very impressed with the body control, quickness, and overall mobility of Cole when he pulls across the LOS or has to block and operate in space. He runs, pursues, changes direction, and can drop his hips and break down like a much smaller prospect, which is a testament to his athleticism and body control at 6’3, 230 lbs. His skillset and playstyle pop off the tape and make for a fun watch that one can’t help but think belongs in a high-level college football room. Must-know name from Southern MN, regardless of class.

Cole showed his athletic ability by getting downfield to throw a block, leading to a big gain on the ground. He made a nice seal block on the edge to help pick up a first down. Defensively, his penetration into the backfield forced a short gain.
