Expert Analysis
Austin Lowell | Prep Redzone Scout
It made sense for the #1 ranked Kicker in Minnesota for this upcoming class to be among the 7 standouts that made this list. Ryerse finished 7 of 9 on field goals and 20 of 22 on extra points in his senior season. He led the state in field goals made from 40+ yards (4), and he was one of just 3 kickers over the course of the season to make a 50+ yard field goal, hitting a 56 yard attempt. He also recovered 2 onside kicks and hit 40 touchbacks on 41 kickoffs through the year. Ryerse flipped his commitment back in December from Alabama to Minnesota, staying in his home state to play for the Golden Gophers.

Ryerse has committed to Alabama as a two-sport athlete. On the football field, he connected on four of six field goals (one was blocked) with a long of 41 yards. He had an 83 percent touchback rate on his kickoffs. As a punter, the junior averaged 41 yards a punt. Only six of his 27 punts were returned, with eight fair catches and nine punts inside the twenty-yard line. As a pitcher, he can go over 90 miles per hour on the radar gun and has four pitches in his arsenal. During the Raptors’ state championship run, he pitched 6 2/3 innings, giving up three runs while striking out seven in their semi-final victory.

Rose his stock from the watchlist to #46 overall!
The #1 specialist in the state of Minnesota’s 2025 class is another standout sophomore with talented bloodlines, as East Ridge kicker Luke Ryerse is the younger brother of Golden Gopher kicker Grant Ryerse, also an East Ridge graduate who had a cannon of a leg on his 6’4, 220 lb. frame. Younger brother Luke shares some of the same well-built proportions, and already is 6’1, 200 lbs. and has an All-District nod for kicking and punting under his young belt. He’s also a strong baseball player. Luke booted massive punts of 69 yards, 58 yards, 45 yards, and a ton more 40+ yarders, with great hang time that put the returner under pressure and visible accuracy to hit coffin corners or pin the ball in particular spots of the field. He also hit 25 touchbacks on kickoff, hit an onside kick in the state quarterfinals, and was 5/6 on FGs, completing a 36, 35, 31, and 25-yarder, and also showcased his athleticism as a QB on the sophomore team. He’s already the total package as a specialist with a ton of football left in his high school career. Get at him now!
