The latest 2024 rankings on Prep Redzone Oklahoma were released on Monday with the Top 125 for the state’s 2024 class. Throughout the week, we’ll be breaking down prospects throughout the rankings. From stock risers and newcomers to breakdowns by positions, it will be a busy week! So keep it locked in to Prep Redzone Oklahoma throughout the week for more on the 2024 class. In this post, we’re putting a spotlight on five of the best and more importantly some of the most versatile athletes in the state’s 2024 class. All five of these guys play on both sides of the ball and have significant impacts for their respective teams.
In the first half of the 2022 season, Muskogee tight end and defensive end Anthony Watson Anthony Watson 6’0″ | 220 lbs | ATH Muskogee | 2024 State OK was an absolute menace. He was one of the best two-way players that we saw early on during his junior years. He had a major impact on both sides of the ball and we want to see him continue to perform at that high level as Muskogee begins their pursuit of a state championship this fall. On offense, Watson was a red zone match-up nightmare for defenses because of his size but also athleticism and quickness. He routinely found his way into the end zone on the offensive side of the ball. Then on defense, Watson was a force along the line of scrimmage. And while we like what he does on offense, we’re leaning to defense with Watson and he might end up stepping back and becoming more of a linebacker when it comes to playing at the next level.

Injuries slowed down what could have been a very special season for Poteau standout Dax Collins Dax Collins 6’2″ | 180 lbs | ATH Poteau | 2024 State OK in 2022. Instead, Collins missed time in the middle of the season and got back to help lead the Pirates to another deep run in the playoffs. Collins is truly one of the more dynamic prospects in this class and we’ve made this comparison before and we’ll do it again. We see him being another version of Erik McCarty Erik McCarty 6’2″ | 175 lbs | DB McAlester | 2023 State OK from McAlester. Collins is a freak athlete and can do so many different things well on the football field. Whether he’s a gamechanger at running back or an outstanding player in the secondary on defense (sound familiar?) Collins is getting the job done. This is going to be a very big offseason for Collins and we wish he had a full junior season of work to show but we still think he’s done enough to earn the attention of college programs this spring and summer.

Out of the five prospects on this breakdown, Muskogee standout Kayden McGee Kayden McGee 6’1″ | WR Muskogee | 2024 State OK might be the toughest one to pick one side of the ball or the other. In our gut, we think that he’s a wide receiver at the next level because the Rougher standout knows how to catch the ball and find the end zone and he makes it look easy. But on the other hand, McGee has shown an unbelievable amount of improvement when you look at him as a safety on the defensive side of the ball. He didn’t play much safety as a freshman and sophomore and that really cranked up around this time last year while he was playing 7v7. McGee has the potential to be a ball hawk at safety and could end up turning some heads on defense. But for now, we’ll lean to offense but the debate for one side or the other for this outstanding prospect has gotten much tougher in the last 12 months.
Millwood made a run all the way to the Class 2A state championship game and a big part of that was the return of junior standout Micho Lavine Micho Lavine 6’3″ | 210 lbs | ATH Millwood | 2024 State OK to both sides of the ball. The two-way star for the Falcons missed significant time as a sophomore and came back with a vengeance in 2022. Lavine is a hard-nosed running back on offense but it was what he did on defense in the two times I saw Millwood in person that really stood out. Lavine is a very athletic edge rusher and caused a lot of problems for opponents during the 2022 season. Halfway through the 2022 season, we thought that we were going to move Lavine over to just defense but he still put up some numbers on offense that you have to keep a look out for. He’s very similar to prospects on this breakdown like Anthony Watson Anthony Watson 6’0″ | 220 lbs | ATH Muskogee | 2024 State OK and Tre Stevenson Tre Stevenson 6’0″ | ATH Perkins-Tryon | 2024 State OK . He has that kind of build and skill to his game.
And our final versatile athlete is Perkins-Tryon standout Tre Stevenson Tre Stevenson 6’0″ | ATH Perkins-Tryon | 2024 State OK following another stellar season as a workhorse running back on offense and a game-wrecker at defensive end. That’s not a combination you see very often but you also don’t see a running back that is the size of Stevenson. He’s nearly impossible to bring down in 1 on 1 situations and hardly ever gets knocked backwards, consistently falling for extra yards. After a breakout sophomore season at running back, Stevenson showed plenty of value on the defensive side of the ball. With most prospects listed as athletes, we usually are. leaning one way or the other on which side of the ball we think they’ll end up on and when it comes to Stevenson, we’re still on the fence and we could see him playing either side. Either way, he’s going to be able to make plays wherever he ends up playing.
