Jayden Platt Jayden Platt 6’1″ | 175 lbs | DB St. Anthony’s | 2023 State NY is just another incredible defensive back for the best team in New York. Platt could be St. Anthony’s best man coverage DB and showed really great instincts. The Maine commit has really great length and range and projects as an outside corner at the next level. Platt does a really good job of making plays on the ball and breaking on routes to make plays. Platt showed this season that he has all the athleticism and instincts you want at the next level. His play this season not only jumped him up our rankings but got him some really solid recruiting recognition.

Luke Green Luke Green 6’1″ | 250 lbs | DL Pelham | 2023 State NY is one of our biggest risers in the class, 93 Tackles, 29TFL, 7.5 Sacks were the stats Green registered his Senior season. Not to mention the countless plays that Green blew up but his teammates finished with TFLs or Sacks. Green is such a unique athlete for a defensive lineman and he showed some pretty cool positional versatility where he would line up inside as a tackle or even as almost a stand up roaming defensive lineman who is attacking the line of scrimmage from advantageous positions. Green had a great season and picked up midseason offers from Presbyterian College and Butler. Committed to Butler Green really made them jump from a really solid defensive player to one of the most impactful lineman in all of New York.
Highlights
Seth Ulett Seth Ulett 6’1″ | 285 lbs | OL Erasmus Hall | 2023 State NY is a dominant figure on the stacked trenches of Erasmus Hall. Ulett was a big factor in Erasmus Hall’s dominant run game and showed throughout the season dominant pass blocking reps. Ulett does a really good job of finding work and getting to the next level in the run game. Ulett also has a strong base and moves his hips well in pass protection. Erasmus Hall is known for their dominant line play but Ulett’s improvement from Junior to Senior season jumps him up our rankings.
Highlights
Sean Cannon Sean Cannon 6’2″ | 190 lbs | ATH Kellenberg | 2023 State NY is one of the most impactful two way players in all of New York. Cannon had 58 receptions for 750 yards and five touchdowns on offense. On defense he had 81 tackles and 6 INTs. Cannon also was Kellenberg’s kicker and had a solid year on PATs and FGs so he potentially is the best three way player in New York. Cannon is just an incredible athlete with great instincts and a knack for making plays. I think at the next level Cannon projects best on defense as a slot corner or a safety because of his strong ball skills. Cannon’s strong season was capped off by a recent offer from Wagner which marks his first and likely not last D1 offer.
Another incredible lineman from Erasmus Hall Modibo Ballo Modibo Ballo 6’2″ | 265 lbs | OL Erasmus Hall | 2023 State NY had a great season as a guard for the Dutchman. With the ability to play both Guard and Center Ballo projects well at the next level. He has the power and quickness to both be an effective mover as a interior offensive lineman and a solid pulling guard and blocker in space. Ballo did a great job improving on his pass protection reps where he often is first to initiate contact. Ballo’s hand placement and fundamentals are really solid and helps him win often. Ballo had a great season and as one of the best lineman in New York jumps up our rankings.

Dowan Coachman Dowan Coachman 5’10” | 190 lbs | LB Moore Catholic | 2023 State NY built off of a really solid Junior season and showed why he is one of the best linebackers in New York. Coachman does a great job of fighting off of blocks and making plays within three yards of the line of scrimmage. Coachman is a tackling machine registering 113 tackles and 4 FF on the season to go along with 7 TFL and 2.5 Sacks. Coachman is a high motor defender and moves so well in tight spaces. He lacks the ideal size for a linebacker but his skillset is incredible and Coachman has gotten some recruiting recognition this season and just picked up an offer from Denison.
Highlights
Christian Oliva Christian Oliva 6’3″ | 300 lbs | OL St. Anthony’s | 2023 State NY had a really solid season improving upon last year and being one of the anchors of St. Anthony’s offensive line. The St. Anselm commit does well in both the ground game and in pass protection. Oliva does a really good job of using his base to push blockers and he always is moving his feet to get in winning positions. Oliva has a strong base in pass protection and uses his length and size to his advantage. Olive does really well as a puller and can finish blocks in space. A really solid season for Oliva pushes him up our rankings a little bit.
Highlights
Dwayne Schulters Jr Dwayne Schulters Jr 5’11” | 170 lbs | DB Canarsie | 2023 State NY had a really solid season and found a way to stand out amongst a stacked Canarsie secondary. Schulters Jr is a really willing tackler and can really help in run support from the cornerback position. With the versatility to play in the slot or outside Schulters Jr is a really solid corner in coverage. Schulters has good instincts and does a really good job of keeping his eyes aware and in the backfield unless he has to turn and run with a receiver. One of the most well rounded corner Schulters Jr year jumps him up in our rankings.
Highlights
Ryan Murphy Ryan Murphy 6’6″ | 290 lbs | OL St. Thomas More | 2024 State NewE was a really big part of St. Anthony’s success this season. Murphy is really solid as a pass protector whose length gives him a strong advantage. Murphy’s 6-6 frame give him the type of length that is sought after at the next level. A little thin and lanky Murphy does lack elite strength but this was a huge area for improvement this year. Murphy did a great job moving defenders as a run blocker and even having some finishing blocks in pass protection. Murphy also was a solid long snapper for St. Anthony’s who had one of the most dominant special teams units in the NYCHSFL. Great season for Murphy who picked up some offers from Merrimack, Monmouth, and Stony Brook (PWO).
Highlights
Owen Boland Owen Boland 6’4″ | 240 lbs | DL Carmel | 2023 State NY was the heart of the Carmel trenches over the course a the past couple seasons. Boland is quick and strong and really impacts plays even when he is not registering tackles or sacks. Boland was the Section 1 Class AA defensive lineman of the year and his ability to always be in the backfield effecting plays make him hard to miss. Boland has great length and his violent hands helps him dominant lineman at first contact. Bolands strong year led to offers from Union, RPI, and a PWO offer from Albany.
Karl Khuns Karl Khuns 6’3″ | 285 lbs | DL Hilton | 2023 State NY lived in the backfield this season for Hilton. 15 TFL and 7 Sacks from the defensive tackle position. Khuns has elite athleticism and length which causes problems for interior offensive lineman. Khuns had a couple blocked kicks and passes defended at the line of scrimmage showing that even if he doesn’t win off the snap he can easily impact plays. However, that usually isn’t the case as Khuns is so fundamentally dominant at the point of attack. Not many have received more in season offers than the section V class A defensive player of the year who picked up opportunities from Lock Haven, Alleghany, Edinboro, and Southern Connecticut State.
Michael Odell Michael Odell 6’3″ | 235 lbs | DL New Paltz | 2023 State NY had a really great season for New Paltz. Odell picked up in season offers from Marist and Stony Brook and his size and strength off the edge are intriguing traits for the next level. At 6-3, 250lbs Odell has the speed and strength combination you want to see at the next level. Odell was a really solid player last season but this year he improved a bunch fundamentally. This season Odell did not have to rely on his physical traits to win but instead could win with pass rush moves and strong hands off the snap. Odell also did a really good job of being a disciplined edge player doing a great job of containing the edge for New Paltz all season.
