1. St. Joseph’s Prep (6-1)
Mid-Season Standout
A big part of me wants to name Anthony Sacca Anthony Sacca 6’4″ | 220 lbs | LB St. Joseph’s Prep | 2025 State PA the best prospect in the class of 2025. I was very close to doing so this past off-season. Sacca’s sophomore tape has me leaning in that direction again. Sacca, a 6’4 safety prospect, has no business running and defending the pass the way he does. Excellent play recognition from his safety alignment, some of the best I’ve seen regardless of class. His ability to sniff out runs based on the flow of the offensive line is special. His route recognition is equally special. His reaction to early releases within 5 yards of the LOS allows him to get a quick feel for passing concepts heading his way. Great hands, great form when tackling. No doubt in my mind this kid could translate to OLB/EDGE sometime in the future. Sacca is a dominant prospect whose confidence has never been higher. Throwing his way, running his way, you’re going to have a tough time.
Highlights
2. Garnet Valley (8-0)
Mid-Season Standout
Matt Mesaros
Matt Mesaros
Matt Mesaros is the man under center orchestrating the tight, heavy offense that has led Garnet Valley to 8-0 record. Many immediately disclaim quarterbacks in offenses like this one. Yes, Mesaros doesn’t have the prototypical build when projecting him to the next level, that doesn’t mean he is incapable of leading this GV program to a state title. Mesaros has complete control of an offense that relies heavily on misdirection and smoke and mirrors. There are a ton of moving parts post-snap, Mesaros understands what’s asked of him while providing the offense with a jolt whenever he decides to keep the rock for himself. Mesaros has some solid throws to his name as well. Unprepared teams could find themselves in an early hole if they aren’t aware of Mesaros’ ability to throw downfield. Fun player to watch.
3. State College (9-0)
Mid-Season Standout
Jake Hohenshelt
Jake Hohenshelt
One of the many new names to represent State College, Jake Hohenshelt has provided pivotal reps that have helped this program reach an undefeated season. Hohenshelt’s game film shows he can provide quality run-blocking reps from several different alignments. Hohenshelt primarily acts as the in-line strong-side tight end, one that does an excellent job putting a hat on a hat. Good base, good hand placement, an active puller especially when off the LOS. State College often has him in the backfield, utilizing this kid’s size and feet almost as a fullback. Hohenshelt has a couple catches on tape to remind us he’s a versatile prospect, but he will earn his money blocking at tight end or even along the offensive line sometime in the future. Would love to see what he’s capable of on the defensive side of the football.
4. Coatesville (7-1)
Mid-Season Standout
I remember first getting eyes on Amir Haskett Amir Haskett 5’10” | 190 lbs | ATH Coatesville | 2024 State PA at an off-season camp, a DB who was working on his development as a pass-catcher. That development has budded into the awesome two-way player we are seeing work for Coatesville. Haskett has the tools at DB, yet his efforts on offense have spiked this Fall. A legitimate playmaker that can take the top off a defense, someone who can be trusted to track the ball downfield and catch Susi bombs. The next rankings update will more than likely see his designation change to “ATH”. Always impressive to see offseason work shine through in the Fall. I still like this kid’s complete skill set at corner, yet his reps on offense will prove to coaching staffs at the next level that he can provide a spark if given a chance.
5. Nazareth (8-1)
Mid-Season Standout
Sean Kinney Sean Kinney 6’3″ | 290 lbs | OL Nazareth | 2024 State PA ‘s mid-season tapes, along with some after, are looking dominant as ever. I’m hardly surprised, yet the right tackle and IDL looks to have taken his game to even higher heights this Fall. Nazareth’s stock is growing, you can attribute the program’s success to many prospects, not sure if any are more deserving than Kinney. Real power off the ball. Real finishing ability, someone who will eventually make a D1 program very happy. Elite hand usage on this big man, this goes for both sides of the football. It’s tough to find IDL that are this big, show a bit of finesse off the snap. He can overwhelm with power and a good get-off, yet Kinney is often catching guards off guard with his quick and slick hand-fighting tech. That elite hand usage shows up at tackle as well, hardly missing his punches and landing his hands well in run-blocking sets. I’d go to war with this young man at tackle.
