October is here and we have begun updating all of our prospect rankings throughout the website. Last week, we released our first watch list for the 2026 class. The first rankings for that class will come out in January. This week, it’s all about the 2025 class. We’ve updated those rankings to feature the top 75 sophomores in the state. You can check out the full rankings RIGHT HERE. In this post, we’re taking a look at some of the top pass catchers in the state’s 2025 class. From wide receivers to a truly elite tight end, we have them covered. Stay tuned throughout the week for more 2025 prospect breakdowns. And keep it locked in to Prep Redzone Oklahoma throughout the month for the 2024 and 2023 prospect rankings.
Blanchard has emerged as one of the top teams in Class 4A and they’re doing it behind a very strong passing attack. We knew based on the returning starters and experience that the Lions returned that they had a chance to have one of the better passing attacks in Class 4A. Blanchard’s second leading wide receiver is Brayson Carter Brayson Carter 5’9″ | 155 lbs | ATH Blanchard | 2025 State OK and he’s a prospect who we definitely think is on the rise at the wide receiver position. Carter is definitely at his best after the catch as he’s a physical receiver but he isn’t as tall as some of the other standouts on this breakdown. But Carter isn’t your typical shorter wide receiver where his game is solely based on speed. Carter is built together very well and can power over a smaller defensive back. He’s definitely a receiver we’re keeping an eye on.
Highlights
There is some really strong talent in southeastern Oklahoma at some of the smaller schools within this 2025 class. Another example of that is Checotah wide receiver Elijah Thomas Elijah Thomas 6’0″ | WR Checotah | 2025 State OK , who has not only emerged as a strong receiver prospect, but an overall prospect as well. He started to get recruited earlier this season when Arkansas extended him an offer. That should be the first of many for Thomas, who is 6’1 and can absolutely fly down the field. He has speed, sure hands and can jump as well as we’ve seen some of his vertical and broad jump numbers and they are incredibly impressive. Thomas is another small school standout that you need to keep an eye on moving forward. On the field this fall, Checotah has struggled as they are in one of the toughest districts in the state, but Thomas has still found a way to produce.
The only tight end among this group is Washington sophomore Nate Roberts Nate Roberts 6’4″ | 235 lbs | TE Washington | 2025 State OK , who has emerged as one of the top overall prospects in the state. He enjoyed a breakout season last year as a freshman and has only continued it so far this season. And Roberts might not have the production that other standouts have simply because the majority of Washington’s games are over by halftime. Not to mention that he’s not the only top tight end on his team. 2024 tight end Cooper Alexander Cooper Alexander 6’4″ | 205 lbs | TE Washington | 2024 State OK moved in from Norman and gives Washington two of the best tight ends in the state. There’s a lot to like about Roberts moving forward when you look at his size, skill set and overall abilities on the football field. Roberts and the Warriors are determined to get over the hump and bring home the state title.
We mentioned in a few other 2025 articles that Carl Albert has a wealth of talent in the 2025 class and maybe the best prospect of the bunch is wide receiver Trey Washington Trey Washington 6’3″ | WR Carl Albert | 2025 State OK . If he gets into the weight room and adds some weight to go on his 6’4 frame, he could turn into a really strong tight end prospect. But for now, we have him at wide receiver. Carl Albert has been incredibly run-heavy behind junior running back Xavier Robinson Xavier Robinson 6’2″ | 225 lbs | RB Carl Albert | 2024 State OK . But despite that, Washington still leads the team in receptions and he’s a redzone nightmare for opponents trying to keep Carl Albert out of the end zone. Washington had a breakout season last year as a freshman, becoming one of Carl Albert’s leading receivers. He’s picked up right where he left off and is going to be a name to watch moving forward.
Another tall wide receiver that has the chance to really blow up in the next 12-18 months is Westmoore standout Vidal Ortiz II Vidal Ortiz II 6’4″ | 190 lbs | WR Choctaw | 2025 State OK . We got chance to see Ortiz earlier this year at one of our camps and then again as a basketball player while doing some work for the Prep Hoops Circuit. There’s no doubt that Ortiz is an outstanding athlete. At the football camp in April, Ortiz was one of the best wide receivers in attendance. He ran good routes, found a way to get separation and made some outstanding catches. On the basketball floor, Ortiz was a physical forward who controlled the glass and could jump out of the gym during the tournament that we caught in person. Ortiz is definitely a wide receiver to keep an eye on moving forward. Westmoore is still scratching and clawing for a playoff spot.
