It’s the month of June and we’re inching closer to the start of the 2022 football season. This month, we’re updating and upgrading our prospect rankings across the site. This week, it’s all about the 2025 class as the breakout freshmen from last season now become sophomores this fall. In case you missed our complete ranking update, you can check out the 2025 Top 50 Right Here! Throughout the week, we’ll take a look at different position groups, as well as some of the other standouts inside and just outside of this recent ranking update. Stay tuned to Prep Redzone Oklahoma throughout the month of June for more ranking updates, along with a ton of prospect breakdowns. In this post, we take a look at the defensive back class of 2025. And it includes the new top ranked prospect in the overall class with Beggs DB Ryan Grayson Ryan Grayson 6'0" | 160 lbs | DB Beggs | 2025 State OK .

– Beggs
(Ranked #1 Overall – #1 DB)
A couple changes happened with Beggs standout Ryan Grayson Ryan Grayson 6'0" | 160 lbs | DB Beggs | 2025 State OK between now and the last ranking update. One, he went from a running back to a defensive back. And two, he took over the top overall spot in the 2025 class. Grayson impressed us last year as a freshman running back but he also had an outstanding season on defense with eight interceptions. And when we got a chance to see Grayson in person at the Verdigris camp, he was a lockdown corner, looked great physically and it just appeared that he was the next top defensive back to come out of Oklahoma. We’re not closing on the door on Grayson as a running back but we think that the best spot for him at the next level is as a cornerback and he’s proven that on the field with his production.

Tahlequah | 2025
State
OK
– Tahlequah
(Ranked #32 Overall – #2 DB)
Every May, we send out questionnaires across the state and use that info for rankings and then preseason preview purposes. One thing that stood out with Tahlequah’s questionnaire was all of the young talent that the Tigers have returning. Now, they have a tough job of moving up to 6A-2 this fall so the competition gets harder but they might be ready for the challenge. Leading the young group of Tigers is defensive back Beckett Robinson Beckett Robinson 6'2" | 170 lbs | DB Tahlequah | 2025 State OK , who has impressed the coaches at Tahlequah since bursting on the scene last fall. He was an impact player for Tahlequah as a freshman and he’s just continued to get better throughout the offseason. The expectations are high on Robinson but we have a feeling that the tougher competition of 6A-2 will only make him better.
Rhett Winchester

Edmond Memorial | 2025
OK
– Edmond Memorial
(Ranked #39 Overall – #3 DB)
We think that the last time we did the 2025 rankings, we had Edmond Memorial’s Rhett Winchester Rhett Winchester 5'11" | 180 lbs | RB Edmond Memorial | 2025 OK listed as a linebacker. But now he’s listed as a safety and can honestly be categorized as that hybrid type player who is just as comfortable playing closer to the line of scrimmage or dropping back in coverage. The coverage part continues to get better every day and he’s really improving in that category. Edmond Memorial has a ton of young talent and despite struggling on the field over the last few years, we think the Bulldogs are primed for a resurgence this fall. While a lot of 2025 attention is paid to the QB David McComb David McComb 6'3" | 215 lbs | QB Edmond Memorial | 2025 State OK , Winchester and other defensive prospects are just more reasons to buy into what Edmond Memorial is building right now and for the future.
Santanna Landon

OK
– Midwest City
(Ranked #40 Overall – #4 DB)
Our final defensive back prospect is going from one Mid-Del program to another as Santanna Landon Santanna Landon 6'0" | 150 lbs | DB Midwest City | 2025 State OK goes from Carl Albert to Midwest City for his sophomore season. Landon is a prospect who’s freshman film was impressive to watch. But we’re waiting for him to make an impact on the varsity level. One thing is for sure and Landon plays with plenty of confidence on the field and you certainly need that at the cornerback position. Based on the film, there’s a lot to like about his game but like we mentioned, it was at a lower level and now it’s time to prove it against varsity competition. If Landon ends up having another strong fall campaign with the Bombers and he proves himself against tougher competition, we expect him to jump up the list following this season.
