It’s the month of June and we’re inching closer to the start of the 2022 football season. This month, we’re updating and upgrading our prospect rankings across the site. Last week, we updated the 2025 Rankings and this week, it’s all about the 2024 class and this class continues to get deeper and deeper every time we take an in-depth look at it. In case you missed our complete ranking update, you can check out the 2024 Top 75 Right Here! Throughout the week, we’ll take a look at different position groups, along with several other ranking breakdowns. Stay tuned to Prep Redzone Oklahoma throughout the month of June for more ranking updates, along with a ton of prospect breakdowns. In this post, it’s all about the playmakers at wide receiver (and tight end) as we break down the top four wide receivers in the state’s 2024 class and the top tight end prospect in the class.
Jino Boyd

Union | 2024
State
OK
– Union
(#4 Overall – #1 WR)
We try to stay away from player comparisons but we’re going to throw one out here with Union wide receiver Jino Boyd Jino Boyd 6'0" | WR Union | 2024 State OK . We think he has the potential to be the 2024 version of 2023 WR Micah Tease Micah Tease 6'1" | WR Booker T Washington | 2023 State OK from Booker T Washington. Boyd is that type of playmaker. Union was a very run-heavy offense in 2021 and Boyd still led them in receiving as a sophomore. We think this fall will be his breakout year where he becomes one of the top wide receivers in the state and he’s also a threat in the return game. We’ve watched Boyd for a little over a year now and the Union product simply doesn’t drop anything that touches his hands. He’s not a big name across Oklahoma yet but we believe that’s going to change this season. Because of that and the similarities to Tease at Booker T Washington, Boyd was a no brainer pick to be the top wide receiver in the state’s 2024 class.
Cooper Alexander

State
OK
(TE) – Norman
(#10 Overall – #1 TE)
The lone tight end on this breakdown is Norman tight end Cooper Alexander Cooper Alexander 6'4" | 205 lbs | TE Washington | 2024 State OK . We’re looking forward to seeing more of the Norman product this fall as we haven’t had as much of a chance to evaluate him and his talents in person. On film, there is a lot to like and it appears that he passes the eye test physically. It goes without saying that he has the genetic element on his side with his dad being former OU tight end Stephen Alexander, who spent time in the league. Norman ran the ball a lot in 2021 and Alexander was asked to be physical and be an extension of the offensive line and he did just that. We’re hoping to see more of the playmaking ability this fall within the Norman offense. But after checking out what the Tigers have coming back on offense, they’ll be very experienced and that should make for some opportunities to have some big performances.
Ladainian Fields
Ladainian
Fields
6'2" | 180 lbs | ATH
Del City | 2024
State
OK
– Southeast
(#12 Overall – #2 WR)
Southeast wide receiver is the top dual-sport prospect in the 2024 class. Fields is a top 15 prospect in football and earlier this week on our basketball site Prep Hoops, Fields was named a top 15 prospect in basketball as well. On the football field, Fields was one of our favorite 2024 receivers to watch last season. Granted, it was just on film but he made big play after big play. Southeast struggled last year and it’s been a while since they’ve been successful. But despite that, Fields was arguably one of the best playmakers on the field every time they went out there on a Friday night. Don’t overlook Fields as being one of the top playmakers in Oklahoma this season, regardless of class. He put up some serious numbers last year as a sophomore and with the majority of their starters coming back on offense, it’s hard to suggest that he won’t have an even better 2022 campaign.
Witt Edwards
Witt
Edwards
6'6" | 200 lbs | WR
Wagoner | 2024
State
OK
– Wagoner
(#21 Overall – #3 WR)
Before last season began, Wagoner head coach Dale Condict mentioned to us that 2024 wide receiver Witt Edwards Witt Edwards 6'6" | 200 lbs | WR Wagoner | 2024 State OK had the chance to be pretty special for the Bulldogs. He was right. He’s usually right. Edwards definitely passed the eye test when we saw them in person during the regular season. While Wagoner has always been a run-first team, they’re not afraid to air it out if they have a weapon at wide receiver and Edwards is that guy. Now, because of his tall frame, we won’t back away from the idea that he could end up as more of a tight end at the next level. On size alone, he’s a match-up nightmare for any cornerback he lines up against. Edwards also plays defense and could end up being recruited on that side of the ball because of his athletic build. The more we write this breakdown, the more we think Edwards might be listed as an “athlete” in the next rankings because of his versatility and potential to play a variety of positions at the next level.
Kevon Robinson
Kevon
Robinson
6'2" | WR
Coweta | 2024
State
OK
– Coweta
(#31 Overall – #4 WR)
We first saw Coweta wide receiver Kevon Robinson Kevon Robinson 6'2" | WR Coweta | 2024 State OK earlier this year while playing 7v7 with Sooner 7. We bought in immediately and believe he’ll be a breakout player in 5A football this fall. Coweta has an offense that could be absolutely lethal in the passing game and Robinson is that big play threat that will allow the Tigers to stretch the field. They’ll have a new quarterback in 2023 QB Carson Laverty Carson Laverty 6'1" | 185 lbs | QB Coweta | 2023 State OK but one thing he does very well is throw the deep ball. That’s a perfect situation for Robinson as he has the speed, size and hands to make the big play. Robinson got better and better throughout this spring and was one of the top wide receivers at our camp in April. Robinson is still somewhat of an unknown around the Tulsa area but I think that will change this fall. We think Coweta puts up a lot of points and Robinson will be one of the biggest beneficiaries in 2022.
