The Bears were hosts to Bishop McGuinness, Blanchard, Chickasha, Del City, Jones, Lawton, McLoud and Putnam City West. We saw a great combination of prospects we’ve seen before, prospects who are already considered some of the best in the state and a few new faces that stood out. Prep Redzone Oklahoma has coverage from several team camps all over the state. Now is a great time to check out the site and see who has been standing out over the last few days in Oklahoma. In this post, we take a look at some of the standouts from Thursday night’s action in Noble. [player_tooltip player_id="215199" first="Clayton" last="Creasey"] - 2024 Quarterback - Jones Those who follow Oklahoma high school football shouldn’t be surprised by the fact that Jones has another potential star in the making at the quarterback position. This program has put out some fantastic QB’s in the last decade and 2024 signal caller [player_tooltip player_id="215199" first="Clayton" last="Creasey"] is starting to look like the next one up. Thursday was our first chance to really see what he could do with the football and we were not disappointed. He’s stepping into big shoes, replacing Iowa signee [player_tooltip player_id="38671" first="Carson" last="May"] but Creasey already appears ready for the challenge. The new Jones signal caller is incredibly confident within this offense and he gets the ball out in a hurry. And the ball comes out of his hand incredibly fast and he didn’t have very many times when he missed his intended target. [player_tooltip player_id="99770" first="Clint" last="Campbell"] - 2023 Running Back - McLoud The first of several running backs in the 2023 class on this breakdown is McLoud running back [player_tooltip player_id="99770" first="Clint" last="Campbell"]. About two years ago, we were fairly convinced that Campbell would be one of the better running backs in the 2023 class. Fast forward to now and we’re starting to wonder if his future might be brighter on defense. He also played linebacker for the Redskins and will be utilized on both sides of the ball as one of the top athletes on this McLoud team. But as a running back, Campbell still has a lot of what you want at the position. He is so physical and the size is there as an upright runner. Campbell doesn’t shy away from traffic and when he gets into the open field, he has the speed to turn it into a breakaway run. But we’ll still keep the option for him at linebacker open. [player_tooltip player_id="219070" first="Colin" last="Fisher"] - 2023 Quarterback - Noble After talking with some of the coaches on Thursday, this complete breakdown might be a complete waste because it appears that there’s absolutely not shot that Noble 2023 QB [player_tooltip player_id="219070" first="Colin" last="Fisher"] plays college football. He’s been committed to Arkansas for baseball for over a year and there are rumors that with another strong season on the diamond, he could be a relatively high draft pick. But man, he’s one of the best quarterbacks in the state’s senior class. The lefty from Noble impressed us once again with his arm, making just about every throw in the book during the various scrimmages. Fisher is a QB prospect who we’ve been high on and will continue to be high on, even if he’s not a realistic quarterback prospect because of his future in baseball. [player_tooltip player_id="241236" first="Devarius" last="Hardy"] - 2023 Quarterback - Lawton Another quarterback to watch out for this fall is Lawton 2023 QB [player_tooltip player_id="241236" first="Devarius" last="Hardy"]. We’ll say this before we dive into his game, the 2023 QB class is absolutely loaded and Hardy might get more attention at another position as a prospect but he does have skills as a quarterback. On Thursday, Hardy was one of the best quarterbacks at a team camp that featured two strong 2024 QB’s. It’s hard to argue any quarterback made more big throws than Hardy. We’ll also add that the Wolverines have some serious firepower on the offensive side of the ball and they’re going to be a problem for opposing defenses. But Hardy is definitely going to be a name to watch this fall because he has talent around him and he should put up some impressive numbers. [player_tooltip player_id="57157" first="Jaedon" last="Foreman"] - 2023 Defensive End - Del City The only prospect in attendance that has committed for football is Del City 2023 defensive end [player_tooltip player_id="57157" first="Jaedon" last="Foreman"]. The Oklahoma State commit was one of the more disruptive players along the defensive line. Foreman has been at Del City forever, at least it feels that way and the experience is there for him to be one of the leaders of this Del City defense. Foreman was a game-wrecker on Thursday and on one play in particular, right in front of us, he got held up by a left tackle and absolutely flattened him on his back and from that point on, he was a mandatory double team. Foreman is going to be one of the top defensive linemen in the state this fall and this defense for the Eagles has the chance to be pretty special as they transition to Class 5A. [player_tooltip player_id="38778" first="Kanijal" last="Thomas"] - 2023 Defensive Back - Del City The other Del City product that feels like has been there forever is 2023 defensive back [player_tooltip player_id="38778" first="Kanijal" last="Thomas"]. And on Thursday evening, Thomas was once again showing why he’s been one of the top defensive backs in this 2023 class since his sophomore year. What’s more impressive this time around when we watched Thomas was his versatility. The defensive back was moving around and playing in multiple spots and was a problem for opponents trying to throw the ball. Thomas is one of the harder hitting defensive backs in this class and like a few other guys on this list, we just don’t understand why he’s not getting more attention on the recruiting side of things. He’s been a top ten prospect in our opinion and should be a priority for schools. [player_tooltip player_id="57161" first="Malek" last="Murphy"] - 2023 Running Back - Chickasha Chickasha 2023 running back [player_tooltip player_id="57161" first="Malek" last="Murphy"] is in that same conversation as Campbell at McLoud. Murphy was once again one of the top running backs at the event in Noble and it just leaves us scratching our heads, wondering why more schools aren’t interested in the Chickasha product. The size is there, the speed is there and the production on the field is there. Like Campbell, Murphy will have a first year head coach this fall and it will be interesting to see how that impacts his usage within this Chickasha offense. Eric Gibson comes over from Lawton Eisenhower, where he just had a standout running back. So he’ll be no stranger to using a dynamic weapon like Murphy in his backfield. The Chickasha standout should be a must-see for colleges looking at running backs. [player_tooltip player_id="51871" first="Michael" last="Taffe"] - 2023 Running Back - Bishop McGuinness We’ve been fans of Bishop McGuinness 2023 running back [player_tooltip player_id="51871" first="Michael" last="Taffe"] since he was a breakout star for Millwood a few years ago. Last year, he was one of the best running backs in the state and he’s back for more this fall. Taffe is also starting to pick up interest from schools as he’s received a few offers in the last couple weeks. Taffe is an explosive runner and did a good job slicing up defenses on Thursday. We’ve said it a few times this offseason but it definitely needs to be brought up once again. The 2023 running back class in Oklahoma is very special and we have some very talented players in the class all over the state. Taffe will go into this season as one of the best running backs in the state and should be considered a contender to be a Player Of The Year finalist. [player_tooltip player_id="268313" first="Reagan" last="Palmer"] - 2024 Wide Receiver - Blanchard The first of only two wide receivers who stood out on Thursday evening was Blanchard’s 2024 WR [player_tooltip player_id="268313" first="Reagan" last="Palmer"]. Formerly at Bridge Creek, Palmer is now at Blanchard and he’s going to give the Lions a spark on offense in the passing game. On a side note, watch out for Blanchard this fall because their passing game was outstanding on Thursday and they have multiple guys that they can burn you with. But out of all the wide receivers, Palmer stood out to us the most with his size and his ability to stretch the field. Palmer was a big match-up problem when he went against smaller cornerbacks. And even though he had a size advantage, he would also beat opposing DB’s with a combination of speed and route running to get separation. [player_tooltip player_id="215198" first="River" last="Warren"] - 2024 Quarterback - Bishop McGuinness Just a few days after picking up an offer from Florida Atlantic, we got a chance to see Bishop McGuinness 2024 quarterback [player_tooltip player_id="215198" first="River" last="Warren"]. As it stands right now, Warren is the top quarterback prospect in the state’s 2024 class and when we update the rankings in June, it’s hard to see any other QB taking over that top spot from him. Warren throws a very nice ball and the accuracy is absolutely there. He might not put up some of the numbers that other QB’s will because he has one of the best running backs in the state in the backfield with him. But when McGuinness is in passing situations, they’ll have one of the better quarterbacks in 5A football this fall. We’re already on the record that McGuinness will be a serious contender this fall and that 1-2 punch at QB and RB is a big reason why. [player_tooltip player_id="38783" first="Tryce" last="Lewis"] - 2023 Offensive Lineman - McLoud Another McLoud product that has gotten us to second guess what he is as a prospect is 2023 lineman [player_tooltip player_id="38783" first="Tryce" last="Lewis"]. Like his teammate [player_tooltip player_id="99770" first="Clint" last="Campbell"], we’ve been pretty set on Lewis as an offensive prospect on the offensive line. But on Thursday, he did incredibly well as a defensive tackle, causing a lot of problems for offenses. Then on the offensive side of the ball, he was the anchor of the O-line as the center and everything worked around him. You can tell that Lewis is incredibly confident in his abilities and the growth that he’s had as a prospect over the last two years is very noticeable. On offense, Lewis is a very physical blocker and knows how to use his hands to drive a defender backwards. He’s a fantastic interior lineman prospect. [player_tooltip player_id="150089" first="Tyron" last="Amacker"] - 2023 Wide Receiver - Lawton We mentioned that Lawton had some serious firepower at the skill positions on offense and here’s the best example of that. 2023 standout [player_tooltip player_id="150089" first="Tyron" last="Amacker"] was a highlight play waiting to happen every time he got the ball in his hands. We actually first saw Amacker at the Noble camp in 2021 and thought he was primed for a big junior season. Fast forward to today and we still think he’s a game changer in the 2023 class and every time he got the ball in his hands, he was a threat to take it the distance. Like several other prospects on this list, the recruiting process has been slow and it doesn’t make much sense to us because the talent is there. But like we said with Hardy, Lawton has some serious weapons on offense and Amacker should do well this fall in terms of his production.
