finally had that breakout moment during the 2022 season as he became one of the best backs in the state when it comes to production. He ran for over 2,000 yards and had several games with some eye-popping numbers. We first caught Murphy in person following his sophomore season and it seemed like he was primed for some breakout moments and to become one of the state’s best at his position. But Murphy absolutely became that guy throughout the 2022 season and recently signed to play in-state with East Central down in Ada. Murphy’s best football might still be ahead of him.

. There aren’t many running backs that have over 2,000 yards on the season already but Murphy is one of them. He’s had several games this year where he’s gone for over 300 yards. In the game where he eclipsed 2,000 yards on the season, Murphy went off for over 400 yards. If Chickasha is going to pull off the upset over the district champions and move on to the quarterfinals, they are going to need Murphy to not only be healthy, but playing like we’ve seen already this season when he could not be contained. Murphy has enjoyed a stellar senior season and he doesn’t want it to be over.

has been playing lights out football all season. We’ve been waiting for this from him since we saw him following his sophomore season. We’ve long believed that Murphy was one of the best backs in Class 4A and a top ten guy at the position in the 2023 class. But we wanted to see it under the lights on a Friday night. He’s produced this year in a big way. Last week, he eclipsed 2,000 yards rushing for the season after going for more than 400 yards in week nine. He has another game where he ran for at least 300 yards. Murphy has been outstanding this season and has been the unstoppable running back that we had seen flashes of in the last two offseasons. As his senior tape makes the rounds, college coaches are going to take notice.

went to work on Thursday night. He finished with just over 400 yards and five touchdowns on 18 carries in the victory. Murphy’s made big performances look normal throughout the season but Thursday night was his best game to date. In Class 4A, one of the bigger games features Elk City hosting Chickasha. Elk City is riding high coming off a big win over defending champion Clinton a few weeks ago. They appear to be the new favorite in that district. However, Chickasha has bounced back from an early loss to Marlow with four straight wins and they are knocking on the door of the top ten rankings. They can put themselves in the driver’s seat for the district crown with a win over Elk City. Leading the way once again will be senior running back

. We’ve been high on Murphy since seeing him following his sophomore season. He’s putting it all together this season as he’s made running for 250+ yards look easy several times this season. But Murphy and Chickasha will have their toughest test of the district slate this week as they face Elk City. With a win, they can all but lock up the district title next week at home against Clinton.

once again had an outstanding game as they took down John Marshall. The senior standout ran for 260 yards and a pair of touchdowns. At the halfway point of the season, Murphy has already eclipsed 1,000 yards, averaging at least 200 yards per game. Murphy has been a prospect that we’ve really liked since the end of his sophomore season. At that time, we started to see glimpses of a player who could take over games and was a dynamic runner with strength and speed. But we’ve been waiting for all of that to translate to the field on Friday nights. It appears that not only is it happening for Murphy, but Chickasha should be considered a serious dark horse in Class 4A. Their toughest district games are still ahead of them but there’s an argument to be made that Murphy is the best playmaker in the district.Access all of Prep Redzone

has been a prospect that we’ve liked for a while now and it looks like he’s taken his game to the next level and should be recruited as some of the top running back prospects. In the first few weeks, Murphy ran for at least 175 yards but he absolutely dominated Anadarko on Friday. Murphy would finish with just over 300 yards and four touchdowns on 23 carries. Murphy almost doubled his season numbers as he had a little over 350 yards through the first two games and he went for over 300 on Friday night alone. Murphy is a unique running back to watch moving forward as he has all the tools to be one of the better backs and it’s starting to show on Friday nights.Access all of Prep Redzone
