Every Friday in March and April, we’ll take an in-depth look at prospects across Oklahoma. Each week, we’ll ask for prospects who want their hudl film to be evaluated by us and in these posts, we’ll have some form of a scouting report on each prospect. Austin Munson Austin Munson 6'0" | 195 lbs | ATH Bishop Kelley | 2023 State OK – 2023 Athlete – Bishop Kelley
We’ll say this about Bishop Kelley every single year and we don’t care how repetitive it is. The Comets will always have some of the best pure football players and head coach JJ Tappana gets the absolute most out of them. The latest example of that will be 2023 standout Austin Munson Austin Munson 6'0" | 195 lbs | ATH Bishop Kelley | 2023 State OK . We threw on the junior tape and it was strictly plays at the running back position. Munson appears to be a very good athlete so clips from just one position was surprising. But as a running back, Munson is a very strong power runner who on more than one occasion, would get bottled up and would still move the pile forward. As for what Munson can work on to improve as a prospect, we want to see more defensive clips from him. We’re curious if he played any defense last season and if he did, what position? How many reps did he get in each game? Because as a running back prospect alone, Munson will be limited on options at the next level. It’s an absolutely loaded class. But if he also plays some linebacker or even safety, that could open up a few more doors in terms of getting to the next level.
Cale Marley Cale Marley 5'9" | 170 lbs | ATH Rejoice Christian | 2025 State OK – 2025 Athlete – Rejoice Christian
We currently have Rejoice Christian 2025 standout Cale Marley Cale Marley 5'9" | 170 lbs | ATH Rejoice Christian | 2025 State OK listed as an athlete but his actual position is quarterback. However, he’s behind one of the best quarterbacks in the state in Chance Wilson Chance Wilson 6'3" | 185 lbs | QB Rejoice Christian | 2023 State OK . So before he can line up under center, Marley had to play a little wide receiver, safety and was a return specialist for the Eagles. I was very impressed with the film and just watching Marley move around as an athlete. He can read the field incredibly well, which makes us excited to see what kind of talent he has as a quarterback. Overall, the film was very impressive but we can’t help but want to see more from what Marley will be in the future. In terms of improving as a prospect, it’s way too early and Marley isn’t even playing what his natural position is. Marley should be the next quarterback at Rejoice Christian following Chance Wilson Chance Wilson 6'3" | 185 lbs | QB Rejoice Christian | 2023 State OK and he’ll get an opportunity to showcase his talents as a QB at that time. But before that moment comes, he’s getting a great opportunity to showcase his ability as an overall athlete that can be moved around and do whatever the team needs him to do.
Cole Scott Cole Scott 5'11" | 190 lbs | RB Washington | 2023 State OK – 2023 Running Back – Washington
We’ve gone on the record a few times this offseason saying we absolutely love Washington going into the 2022 season. We think after back to back trips to the title game and settling for silver, Washington is the favorite in 2A as we go into this upcoming fall. On offense, they’ll bring back standout running back Cole Scott Cole Scott 5'11" | 190 lbs | RB Washington | 2023 State OK , who was an absolute breakout star for the Warriors last season. He ran for nearly 2,000 yards and you throw on the tape and it’s easy to see why as it’s touchdown, after touchdown, after touchdown. Run after run going for more than 50 yards and he did it in a variety of ways. Toss plays, going right up the middle, whatever was asked, Scott made big plays happen. As for Scott as a prospect, there are going to be some limitations with him being 5’11 in a 2023 running back class that is loaded in-state this year. So Scott is going to have to continue to standout and make big plays and leave no doubt to college coaches that his game can translate to the next level. Based on the film, Scott should play at the next level, which level that is will be the ultimate question.
Colton Sutton Colton Sutton 6'1" | 205 lbs | LB Skiatook | 2023 OK – 2023 Linebacker – Skiatook
After playing primarily as a defensive lineman during his sophomore season, 2023 prospect Colton Sutton Colton Sutton 6'1" | 205 lbs | LB Skiatook | 2023 OK saw a few changes prior to his junior season. Sutton first moved to Skiatook and spent his junior season with the Bulldogs. He also moved back to linebacker which is without a doubt more of a natural fit for his frame at 6’1 and just over 200 pounds. However, we even took a look at some of his sophomore tape from Bartlesville and he had some good moves as an undersized defensive lineman. Because of that, it should come as no surprise that Sutton ended up being one of the better wrestlers in his weight class. Sutton is a ’23 linebacker that isn’t on many radars as of right now but that should change with another spring and summer at the position. In his first year at linebacker, Sutton ended up leading the team in tackles. We were very impressed with Sutton’s film and the biggest thing that Sutton can do right now is continue pumping out his highlights as much as possible. He’s flying under the radar but the ’23 linebacker class is not nearly as deep as the ’22 class and that’s a positive for Sutton.
Easton Rogers Easton Rogers 6'3" | 210 lbs | ATH Lincoln Christian | 2023 State OK – 2023 Athlete – Lincoln Christian
We cannot wait to see what Lincoln Christian 2023 standout Easton Rogers Easton Rogers 6'3" | 210 lbs | ATH Lincoln Christian | 2023 State OK looks like this fall. Whenever we talked about the Bulldogs in 2021, it was easy to only talk about the success of quarterback Max Brown Max Brown 6'2" | 200 lbs | QB Lincoln Christian | 2022 State OK . But now that Brown is off to Florida, Rogers will have a chance to shine within this offense. He certainly has the size to pass the eye test at 6’2 and over 200 pounds. Rogers is an absolute playmaker from the running back position. Not only at running back, but he turns around and is a standout at linebacker. This fall, Lincoln Christian will have two of the better linebackers in 3A football with Rogers and fellow 2023 standout Tyler Johnson Tyler Johnson 5'11" | 210 lbs | LB Lincoln Christian | 2023 State OK . But when it comes down to his future as a prospect, as of right now, we’re still on the fence. We have him listed here as an athlete and his profile has him as a running back. Rogers is impressive on both sides of the ball but in terms of his highest ceiling? it’s going to be one over the other and right now, it’s too early to call. Right now, we’re leaning to offense but it would not surprise us if he ends up as a linebacker.
Jordyn Harris Jordyn Harris 6'1" | 165 lbs | DB Heritage Hall | 2024 State OK – 2024 Athlete – Heritage Hall
The first of several 2024 prospects on this breakdown is Heritage Hall two-way standout Jordyn Harris Jordyn Harris 6'1" | 165 lbs | DB Heritage Hall | 2024 State OK . The Charger standout is a wide receiver and a defensive back and as of right now, we’re very interested to see what side of the ball he ends up playing on at the next level. Right now, Harris might look like more of a defensive back based on what he’s put on film so far. He’s been more of a playmaker on the defensive side of the ball and has limited highlights on offense. But with Gavin Freeman Gavin Freeman 5'10" | WR Heritage Hall | 2022 State OK graduating, that could open things up for Harris to be more of an impact player on offense. But until we actually see it, we’re putting Harris on the defensive side of the ball as a defensive back. He does a great job tracking where the ball is at all times. He’s excellent at bringing the ball carrier down in the open field in one on one situations. He’s rangy and can absolutely fly around a secondary and make things very problematic for opposing offenses. Harris certainly looks the part but there are still some questions that we would like to see answered with him on offense.
Larontae Clayton Larontae Clayton 6'1" | 205 lbs | RB East Central | 2024 State OK – 2024 Running Back – East Central
The first thing that stood out when we put on the tape for East Central 2024 running back Larontae Clayton Larontae Clayton 6'1" | 205 lbs | RB East Central | 2024 State OK was the competition. He didn’t throw a bunch of clips against lower-level teams at the start. He started with several clips going against Bishop Kelley’s defense and he was having success. Clayton is a name that we weren’t familiar with and he needs to be on the radar in terms of the 2024 class immediately. The running back position in the 2024 class is top heavy but there isn’t much depth there so a player like Clayton could be the next guy up in the group. Clayton is a smooth runner and has several tools he can use as a runner. As for what Clayton can improve this offseason and moving forward, it’s pretty simple. He has the size and power to be a next level running back. If he continues to improve in the speed and quickness department while keeping that power advantage, Clayton is going to be a running back to watch over the next few seasons and will have a chance to carry a proud East Central program out of the ground and turn them into a team to watch.
Reagan Palmer Reagan Palmer 6'0" | 180 lbs | WR Blanchard | 2024 State OK – 2024 Wide Receiver – Bridge Creek
The first thing that stood out to us when watching Bridge Creek 2024 wide receiver Reagan Palmer Reagan Palmer 6'0" | 180 lbs | WR Blanchard | 2024 State OK was his big play ability. Not only was it his big play ability but his big play VERSATILITY. In his highlight clip, the first six plays were touchdowns. But they were all done in six different ways. First was a simple go route, second was a comeback route and then making some guys miss on the way to the end zone. Then he caught a bubble screen, got physical and carried guys across the goal line. After that it was a kick return for a touchdown, followed by taking a hand off 50+ yards for a score and then a pick six off a deflected pass. Too many times, we just see go route after go route from wide receivers so it was a nice surprise to see Palmer showcasing such a variety of skills. He’s listed at 6’0 but he appears to be much bigger on film. Palmer has been a prospect we’ve known about since his freshman season and his sophomore year was full of big plays. As far as critiques and improvements, there aren’t too many notes as Palmer had one of the best highlight tapes that we’ve seen during this series.
Tagg Campbell Tagg Campbell 5'10" | DB Metro Christian | 2023 State OK – 2023 Athlete – Metro Christian
In this post, we have Metro Christian 2023 Tagg Campbell Tagg Campbell 5'10" | DB Metro Christian | 2023 State OK listed as an athlete. On his profile, he’s listed as a defensive back. We could add a few more positions to that line after his junior season. He played six positions total in 2021 and was a complete swiss army knife for the Patriots as they made another playoff run. On offense, he lined up at running back primarily but also saw time at wide receiver and was a wildcat quarterback. On defense, he moved back and forth from linebacker to defensive back and also returned kicks. Campbell was no doubt an explosive weapon on the offensive side of the ball and he put up good numbers. But we’ll be honest after watching his tape. We were blown away from the clips of him playing linebacker. The offense was good, the linebacker stuff was great. Campbell is a very physical football player and it translates well to the linebacker position. Campbell is so quick from his spot to getting into the backfield it’s done in a blink of an eye. The biggest thing we want to see more of is very simple. We want a whole highlight of just linebacker.
Zack Mullen Zack Mullen 6'2" | 180 lbs | QB Dewar | 2024 OK – 2024 Quarterback – Dewar
Our final prospect is another 2024 prospect and a very intriguing one to watch moving forward. We put on the tape of 2024 quarterback Zack Mullen Zack Mullen 6'2" | 180 lbs | QB Dewar | 2024 OK and had to do a double take in the first several clips. We’ll admit that Mullen was one of the prospects that we hadn’t heard of prior to throwing on the video. So we were surprised that we were seeing highlights from Checotah. But Mullen has apparently moved to Dewar and will be moving forward with the Dragons as their quarterback. Based on the film from last season, Mullen has an absolute cannon of an arm and can fire missiles all over the field. It’s no surprise that Mullen is also a standout baseball player and you can see that arm strength on full display on several throws. Moving forward, we definitely want to see more of Mullen because some of the tools are there and physically, he passes the eye test. But he’s also moving down to 8-man football and needless to say, it’s a different game than 11-man. We’re interested to see how Mullen makes the transition to 8-man ball but on the positive side, he’s at a great 8-man program.
