Over the weekend, we made the trip down to Plano, Texas for another 7v7 tournament and caught plenty of Oklahoma standouts making plays all across the field. In this breakdown, we take a look at the very best that we got a chance to see throughout the weekend. Stay tuned to Prep Redzone Oklahoma throughout the week as we’ll put out more posts breaking down the top standouts on offense and defense.

– 2023 Tight End – Union
(Played With Sooner 7)
The first of two Union prospects to make this breakdown is a familiar face as 2023 tight end Braylen Irvin-Fisher Braylen Irvin-Fisher 6'2" | 215 lbs | LB Union | 2023 State OK had another spectacular weekend. It was once again another reminder what Union could potentially have in the fall if they let the linebacker play a little tight end as well. While no official stats were kept, we believe that Fisher led Sooner 7 in receptions over the weekend. Many of them were less than 10 yards and just plays to keep a drive going but any time they went to him, he was making the catch. And you definitely need a player like that on third and short and you have to keep the drive alive. Fisher had a strong year in 2021 playing linebacker. We’re just here saying that we’d like to see what he could do on offense too.

– 2023 Wide Receiver – Verdigris
(Played With Sooner 7)
Verdirgris 2023 wide receiver Dalton Person Dalton Person 5'10" | 150 lbs | WR Verdigris | 2023 State OK does not drop balls. Even if he only can use one hand, he doesn’t drop an incoming pass. We’ve said this time and time again for Person, who continues to be one of the best slot receivers in the state that not enough people are talking about. Yes, he’s not the biggest wide receiver target and there will be plenty of questions about his size when it comes to playing at the next level. But we’ve seen plenty of Person over the last few years to know that it doesn’t matter who he’s going up against and how many times he gets knocked down, Person is going to make the catch and keep coming back for more. He had another spectacular weekend in Texas and should be on more radars.
Devon Jordan

– 2024 Athlete – Union
(Played With 918 Elite)
We love covering these offseason events because it gives us an opportunity to see players that not only we haven’t heard of, but players that should be on our radar. That description fits Union 2024 standout Devon Jordan Devon Jordan 6'1" | DB Union | 2024 State OK . On Saturday, Jordan was an absolute game changer for 918 Elite in pool play. We lost count on how many interceptions and pick sixes he had on the afternoon. And as if that wasn’t enough, he would turn around and become a goal line target in the passing game and used his 6’1 frame to jump up and over a defender to catch a fade pass. The other five prospects in this breakdown are guys we already knew but Jordan has earned his way into that conversation. He was one of the more dominant two-way players we saw this weekend.
Deuce Chalk

– 2024 Wide Receiver – Booker T Washington
(Played With Sooner 7 15U)
Booker T Washington wide receiver Deuce Chalk Deuce Chalk 6'2" | 175 lbs | WR Owasso | 2024 State OK finds himself once again on a list that includes other “top performers” following a 7v7 tournament. And what’s impressive is that Chalk got all of his work done on Saturday and was unavailable to go again on Sunday. After suffering a foot injury, Chalk had to miss Sunday’s bracket play and Sooner 7’s 15U squad could have used his playmaking ability. Chalk is very quickly climbing the ranks for 2024 wide receivers and with the Hornets losing several big names to graduation, we are really looking forward to seeing how Chalk emerges this fall as a potential weapon for the Hornets. You know Booker T Washington will always have athletes and Chalk is the next one up.
Jamarian Ficklin

Muskogee | 2025

– 2025 Quarterback/Defensive Back – Muskogee
(Played With Sooner 7 15U)
We’ve been to probably five 7v7 tournaments over the course of the last few months and we always come away with a short list of names that thoroughly impressed us. You could categorize them as “stock risers” or whatever you want to call them, but perhaps at the top of that list is Muskogee 2025 standout Jamarian Ficklin Jamarian Ficklin 6'1" | 180 lbs | QB Muskogee | 2025 State OK . The Muskogee lefty has shown a complete skillset this offseason. He’s played wide receiver, cornerback, safety and then of course quarterback. He is very quickly turning into one of the top athletes within a very talented 2025 class. Over the weekend, Ficklin was lights out throwing the ball and then turned around and was a ball hawk on defense. Ficklin has been one of our favorite players to watch this offseason.
Steele Wasel
Steele
Wasel

Choctaw | 2023
State
OK
– 2023 Quarterback – Choctaw
(Played With Sooner 7)
In 7v7 tournaments, it’s easy to be impressed by the quarterback and certain wide receivers because it’s primarily an offensive game. So we have a higher standard when it comes to watching and breaking down quarterback play and the one that stood out to us the most was Choctaw 2023 QB and Akron commit Steele Wasel Steele Wasel 6'4" | 210 lbs | QB Choctaw | 2023 State OK . The Choctaw product has been arguably the state’s best quarterback in the 2023 class since he was a freshman. Wasel has shown steady improvement over the last three years and appears primed to lead Choctaw to a potential gold ball later this fall. Before we get to that though, he was slicing up defenses in Texas once again. Wasel knew where all of his receivers needed to be and showed great accuracy throwing to every spot on the field.
