Tuttle and Blanchard always play tough physical games and this matchup would prove to be no different. Last season Blanchard played the role of spoiler and took away Tuttle’s perfect season. This year they looked to do much of the same. The long time rivals would battle it out to decide who takes home the crown of district champions. Blanchard opened the game with a trick play on the games first kickoff. Lincoln Smith the speedy senior WR for Blanchard took the kickoff 95- yards to the house to give Blanchard the lead to start the game. After a bobbled snap by Blanchard, Tuttle would capitalize with a 4-yard touchdown run by senior running back Canon West Canon West 5'11" | RB Tuttle | 2022 State OK . With the game tied at seven all Lincoln Smith would pick off a red zone pass attempt and take it 99- yards the other way to give Blanchard the lead. The missed extra point however would give them a 13-7 lead, but that missed extra point proved to be costly. It would be a defensive battle for much of the game until Tuttle scored again to give them a 14-13 lead. With the rest of the game played in the middle of the field Tuttle would stiffen their neck and hold Blanchard scoreless the rest of the game. Tuttle really locked down the Blanchard playmakers during the second half and came out on top to clinch the district title. Both teams played very tough football and showed why they are on top of their district and a threat to compete against the best teams come playoff time. I was thoroughly impressed by the physicality in this matchup, but make no mistake that these teams have playmakers on their perimeter as well. With the win Blanchard draws a tough Bethany squad in the first round while Tuttle will face Newcastle as both teams begin their quest for a state title.
