<span style="font-size: 14pt;"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="52273" first="Ben" last="Harman"] - 2022 Quarterback - Cashion</strong></span>
<span style="font-size: 14pt;"><strong>18-22 | 339 Yards | 6 Touchdowns</strong></span>
In a rematch of last year’s Class A state championship game, it was the defending champs from Cashion absolutely dominating Thomas from start to finish. It continues to be a struggling year for Thomas but the defending champs are looking like champs once again after that surprising week zero loss to Rejoice Christian. A big reason behind that has been the play of [player_tooltip player_id="52273" first="Ben" last="Harman"] over the last three weeks. He has not been stopped by an opposing defense and was at it again, shredding the Thomas defense on Friday. He finished with 339 yards and six touchdowns on 18-22 passing. In their last three victories, Harman has been lights out. In their three wins, Harman is 59-86 for 1,155 yards and 16 touchdowns. Cashion should roll through the rest of the regular season and Harman’s numbers will continue to blow up as the champs continue their push for a second straight title.
<span style="font-size: 14pt;"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="38679" first="Braylin" last="Presley"] - 2022 Running Back - Bixby</strong></span>
<span style="font-size: 14pt;"><strong>16 Carries | 233 Yards | 3 Touchdowns | 1 Receiving Touchdown</strong></span>
"Big Game Braylin" was at it again as Bixby renewed their rivalry with Stillwater and extended their winning streak to 39 consecutive wins. Over the last three seasons, Presley has without a doubt been one of the more dynamic players in Oklahoma. But as we’ve written many times, what separates him and makes him the best player in Oklahoma is his performances in the biggest games for the Spartans. We see plenty of players pad the stat sheet in easy blowouts. But some of Presley’s biggest games have come against the toughest opponents or in the most critical games. In their win over the Pioneers in week three, Presley could not be slowed down. He finished with 233 yards and three touchdowns on just 16 carries. He also caught several passes, including a short touchdown reception. Nobody should be surprised that Presley took his game to another level Friday.
<span style="font-size: 14pt;"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="38715" first="Camden" last="Crooks"] - 2023 Wide Receiver/Defensive Back - Cushing</strong></span>
<span style="font-size: 14pt;"><strong>10 Catches | 158 Yards | 5 Touchdowns | 10 Tackles | 2 Fumble Recoveries</strong></span>
It seems like every week we’re spotlighting either Cushing quarterback [player_tooltip player_id="54349" first="Blaze" last="Berlowitz"] or his number one receiver in [player_tooltip player_id="38715" first="Camden" last="Crooks"]. Cushing is 3-0 and is coming off a blowout of Berryhill and the Tigers are showing why they’re the #1 team in 4A football behind their junior QB-WR duo. This week, it’s Crooks that gets that spotlight as he had yet another monster game for the Tigers. He caught ten passes for 158 yards and five touchdowns. On the defensive side of the ball, Crooks added ten tackles, a forced fumble and two fumble recoveries. Berlowitz absolutely shredded the Berryhill defense and continues to put up massive numbers in the passing game. For Crooks on the season, he has 35 receptions for 619 yards and 10 touchdowns. Friday’s game against Berryhill was the first time he didn’t have at least 200 yards receiving. But he more than made up for it with 5 touchdowns.
<span style="font-size: 14pt;"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="204030" first="Chadlee" last="Humphries"] - 2022 Lineabcker - Harrah</strong></span>
<span style="font-size: 14pt;"><strong>13 Tackles | 5 Sacks</strong></span>
In their annual rivalry clash with McLoud, Harrah dominated McLoud on the ground and got out with the big win on Friday night. While they had a running back finish with over 200 yards, we had to go with a defensive player from Harrah as they forced turnover after turnover and the Redskins struggled to get a first down. Senior linebacker [player_tooltip player_id="204030" first="Chadlee" last="Humphries"] ends up getting the recognition on a defense that was without a doubt lights out on Friday night. He finished with 13 tackles and an eye-opening five sacks on the night. Humphries isn’t a prototypical linebacker as he’s listed at 5’7 but the size did not matter whatsoever because he was nearly impossible to stay in front of and he had no problems getting into the backfield and taking down the McLoud quarterback. Harrah is quickly turning into a team to watch in Class 4A and could end up making plenty of noise.
<span style="font-size: 14pt;"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="157515" first="Chance" last="Wilson"] - 2023 Quarterback - Rejoice Christian</strong></span>
<span style="font-size: 14pt;"><strong>13-19 | 224 Yards | 1 Touchdown | 204 Rushing Yards | 5 Touchdowns</strong></span>
A junior quarterback that is absolutely lighting teams up this year has been Rejoice Christian’s [player_tooltip player_id="157515" first="Chance" last="Wilson"]. We got a great chance to see Wilson several times this offseason as he played with Sooner 7 and it was obvious that he could end up being a special talent in a 2023 class that has several top quarterbacks. In their win over Luther on Friday night, Wilson showed that he’s not only one of the best quarterbacks in 2A football but he’s one of the best overall athletes, finishing with over 200 yards passing and an additional 200+ yards rushing. Wilson finished 13-19 with 224 yards and a touchdown and then scored five more times on the ground and finished with over 200 yards in the rushing department. Rejoice Christian bounced back from their loss to Beggs by beating up on Luther and the Eagles are without a doubt another team to watch in 2A football led by Wilson at quarterback.
<span style="font-size: 14pt;"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="57158" first="Emmanuel" last="Crawford"] - 2023 Running Back - Grove</strong></span>
<span style="font-size: 14pt;"><strong>20 Carries | 270 Yards | 6 Touchdowns</strong></span>
We wrote about the Grove-Pryor match-up last week and talked about it being a big test for the Ridgerunners as they head into a district that is headlined by defending state champion Wagoner. Well, they passed with flying colors and their star junior running back [player_tooltip player_id="57158" first="Emmanuel" last="Crawford"] could not be stopped. He had several big plays throughout the night against Pryor and then ended up with one of the best rushing performances from the night. He finished with 270 yards and six touchdowns on 20 carries. Grove will need Crawford and fellow junior [player_tooltip player_id="38818" first="Carson" last="Trimble"] to continue to be on their A game if they are to dethrone the defending state champion Bulldogs from Wagoner. While Wagoner is certainly more vulnerable than last year, it’s still Wagoner. But if Crawford and the Ridgerunners have the kind of success they had against Pryor, we could be looking at a new top dog in that district.
<span style="font-size: 14pt;"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="204031" first="Tias" last="McClarty"] - 2023 Quarterback - Norman</strong></span>
<span style="font-size: 14pt;"><strong>217 Rushing Yards | 6 Rushing Touchdowns | GW Touchdown With 6 Seconds Left</strong></span>
It was without a doubt the most exciting game of week three and arguably the most exciting game of the season so far as Norman outlasted Mustang in a shootout. Granted, if you’re a fan of defense, you probably would flench at the final score as both teams combined for over 100 points on Friday night. But it was Norman that would prevail and get their first win of the season against a Mustang team that has now dropped two in a row. Junior quarterback [player_tooltip player_id="204031" first="Tias" last="McClarty"] continues to have a breakout season in this Tiger offense and showed why he’s one of the more explosive players in 6A-1 when he has the ball in his hands. On Friday, McClarty finished with over 200 yards and six touchdowns. The last touchdown came with six seconds left and gave the Tigers the win. Even in their first two games against Norman North and Moore, it was obvious that McClarty is a star in the making.
<span style="font-size: 14pt;"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="101415" first="Ty" last="Pennington"] - 2022 Quarterback - Sand Springs</strong></span>
<span style="font-size: 14pt;"><strong>21-32 | 331 Yards | 5 Touchdowns</strong></span>
This game didn’t get as much attention on Friday night since it took place over in Arkansas but Sand Springs remained undefeated with a big road win against Arkansas powerhouse Shiloh Christian. Not only did the Sandites get the big win on the road but they came from behind to do it and within the comeback, senior quarterback [player_tooltip player_id="101415" first="Ty" last="Pennington"] could not be stopped. He finished the game with 331 yards and five touchdowns on 21-32 passing and the Sandites improved to 3-0 before they enter what is without a doubt the toughest district in the state. The top three teams in 6A-2 are all in the same district and the Sandites are looking up at Bixby, Choctaw and Booker T Washington. We’ve said it before that it would not surprise us if the Sandites pull off an upset of one or even two of those big dogs this year. District play is beginning and it’s time to find out.
<span style="font-size: 14pt;"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="51882" first="Virgil" last="Yates"] - 2022 Quarterback - Del City</strong></span>
<span style="font-size: 14pt;"><strong>8-16 | 87 Yards | 23 Carries | 153 Yards | 4 Touchdowns | GW TD In Overtime</strong></span>
In another exciting game on Friday night, Del City improved to 2-1 on the season with an overtime win over Bishop McGuinness. After beating rival Carl Albert in dominating fashion, the Eagles avoided the letdown against the Irish and now bring plenty of momentum into the district season. Senior quarterback [player_tooltip player_id="51882" first="Virgil" last="Yates"] continues to have a breakout senior season. In their win over the Irish, Yates finished with over 150 yards and four touchdowns on the ground. Yates’ final touchdown came in overtime and would end up being the game-winner to push the Eagles to their 2-1 mark on the season. Yates has been outstanding throughout the season and he adds yet another weapon in the Del City running game. The Eagles make no secret about what they want to do on the offensive side of the ball. They’re going to run, run and run the ball throughout the 2021 season.
<span style="font-size: 14pt;"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="38774" first="Zane" last="Woodham"] - 2022 Running Back/Linebacker - Holland Hall</strong></span>
<span style="font-size: 14pt;"><strong>16 Carries | 153 Yards | 3 Touchdowns</strong></span>
It was our game of the week in week three as 3A’s #1 Holland Hall visited 2A’s #1 Metro Christian in a battle of top ranked teams and defending state champions. Holland Hall absolutely dominated the Patriots for the second straight year and once again, senior standout [player_tooltip player_id="38774" first="Zane" last="Woodham"] shined on both sides of the ball. On offense, Woodham was a workhorse back and finished with just over 150 yards and three touchdowns on 16 carries. On defense, he led a stout performance that held a high-powered Metro offense to just 7 points. We said it last fall and throughout the offseason that it was Woodham that was the most underrated star on that Holland Hall state championship team. Now, throw off the underrated tag and know that Woodham is without a doubt the star of this year’s Dutch team that has a chance to dominate their way to yet another state championship.
