After a slow start, they rallied to make the playoffs and make it to the quarterfinals. There would be no slow start in 2025 and excitement to start the season was at an all time high. For the first time in school history, Norman North got to play a true home game on campus with the opening of their new stadium. After they lost the opener, Norman North would win four straight games to go into the second half of the regular season with a 4-1 record. That included a district-opening win over Edmond Memorial that went to overtime and was one of the more exciting games of that week. By the halfway mark of the regular season, Norman North had already matched their win-total from the 2024 season. Unfortunately, that four-game winning streak was followed up by a four-game losing streak. They would snap it before the end of the regular season by beating Edmond Santa Fe by three touchdowns. They entered the playoffs with a 5-5 record. They faced Mustang in the first round but that's where the season would come to a close. Norman North fell 42-17 and the season ended with a 5-6 record. The Timberwolves came up short on going on that deep playoff run but as we start to take a look ahead to the 2026 football season, there is a lot to be excited about with the Timberwolves this fall.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"fontSize":"medium"} --> <p class="has-medium-font-size"><strong>2026 OUTLOOK</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Norman North once again comes into a season as a top ten team in the preseason rankings for Class 6A-1. And there's a few reasons to think that this season could not only be a bounce back year for Norman North but they could take that next step and get back to being a contender in 6A-1. It starts on offense with eight starters returning for a unit that averaged north of 30 points per game last season. The Timberwolves were breaking in a new quarterback and he took the ball and ran with it in 2025. If he takes a major step forward this fall, the Timberwolves are going to have the firepower to score possibly 40 points per game. Norman North has routinely had one of the better offenses in Class 6A-1 and we don't think that will change as we look ahead to the 2026 football season. On the other side of the ball, you also have eight starters returning for the Norman North defense. Now, the Timberwolves will have experience in 2026 but they need to also improve. This was a defense that gave up nearly 35 points per game last season and that included six games where they gave up more than 40 points. If the defense can take a step forward and bring that average down, we think the Timberwolves are going to have a successful season. They have an offense that can score with just about anyone. They just need to get timely stops and avoid those shootouts. First off, Kolar is one of the best tight ends in the region and is highly sought after in the state's 2027 class. Last season, he finished with 44 catches for over 600 yards and nine touchdowns. If Kolar was just a tight end, he would still be considered one of Norman North's top players. But you throw in the fact that he's going to see significant time on the defensive side of the ball and he might end up being their best two-way player and it won't be close. Mason is the ultimate all purpose back that can help an offense in a variety of ways. As a pure runner, he finished with over 800 yards and ten touchdowns on the ground. He also accounted for over 500 yards and five touchdowns as a pass catcher. Norman North got creative with how they utilized Mason on the offensive side of the ball and it wouldn't be surprising to see them get even more creative this season. He finished his junior season with just shy of 160 tackles on the year. He also had a handful of tackles for loss and pass breakups. Coming down from his safety position, Rash is an absolute magnet to the football. You don't have nearly 160 tackles from the safety position unless you get from point A to point B in the blink of an eye. We got a chance to watch him go to work in various 7v7 tournaments and the athleticism and overall playmaking from him was off the charts this offseason. Last year, Lundquist was all over the place for Norman North's defense. He finished with 84 tackles, countless pass breakups and also had four interceptions. While Rash might be the head hunter of this secondary, Lundquist is the playmaker that can turn a game in an instant. There were certainly some growing pains but he was one of the more productive quarterbacks in 6A-1 last season. He threw for over 3,200 yards and 29 touchdowns and the Timberwolves were not shy about letting him sling the ball all over the field. He threw it 372 times last season and that was among the tops in the state, regardless of class. Henry is quickly becoming one of the top overall 2028 prospects in the state. But they have to also perform at a high level on the offensive line in order for those skill players to have success. 2027 offensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id='1838159' first='Prince' last='Mahoney'] is one of the returning guys along the line of scrimmage that will have an elevated role this season. The Timberwolves have to replace one of the more dominant offensive lineman prospects in the state so that's no easy task. They'll lean on guys like Mahoney to pave the way up front for their skill guys to make plays. Anytime you're talking about a rivalry, it's a game that's circled. The Timberwolves will certainly have this one circled after dropping the last two games to the Tigers. That includes Norman spoiling Norman North's stadium opening last year.<br><strong>Sept. 11th - Sand Springs</strong><br>- After a week off, the Timberwolves will host Sand Springs in week two. The Sandites are coming off a 2025 campaign that saw them win the Class 6A-2 state championship. The Timberwolves will look to score a big early season win by taking down a defending state champion. This is a good measuring stick game to see where each team is.<br><strong>Sept. 18th - Piedmont</strong><br>- Norman North will wrap up non-district play with a home game against Piedmont in week three. Piedmont is certainly challenging themselves during the non-district slate with 6A-1 opponents. Norman North will need to be ready for Piedmont's option offense but don't be surprised if this turns into an offensive shootout with plenty of fireworks.<br><strong>Sept. 25th - Broken Arrow</strong><br>- Norman North opens up district play in week four with a home game against Broken Arrow. The Timberwolves will look to pull the upset against a Tiger team that comes into this season with a lot of momentum and overall talent. The Timberwolves lost to the Tigers 43-14 last season and that snapped their three-game winning streak in the series.&nbsp;<br><strong>Oct. 2nd - AT Edmond North</strong><br>- After three straight games at home, Norman North goes on the road in week five to face Edmond North. These two are now district opponents for the first time since 2021. This has been a series that the Timberwolves have dominated for the last 15 years. They are 10-0 during that stretch. Their last win came in the 2023 playoffs.&nbsp;<br><strong>Oct. 8th - Southmoore</strong><br>- Norman North hosts Southmoore for a Thursday night contest in week six. The Sabercats are back in 6A-1 after spending the last two seasons in Class 6A-2. These two met in district play every year from 2014-2023, before the Sabercats dropped down to 6A-2. Norman North went 7-3 during that stretch and they have a five-game winning streak.&nbsp;<br><strong>Oct. 15th - AT Bixby</strong><br>- On a Fall Break Thursday night in week seven, Norman North will head to the Tulsa area to face defending champion Bixby. Anytime you're going against the champs, it's a game that will have your attention. Norman North has not had any luck (who has?) against Bixby since the Spartans moved up to Class 6A-1 in 2022.&nbsp;<br><strong>Oct. 23rd - AT Westmoore</strong><br>- After the road trip to Bixby, Norman North goes back on the road but it's a much shorter trip to face Westmoore in week eight. The Timberwolves rolled over the Jaguars 43-20 in last year's meeting. These two teams have been district opponents for the last four seasons. Norman North is 3-1 during this stretch.&nbsp;<br><strong>Oct. 30th - Mustang</strong><br>- Norman North hosts Mustang in week nine and these two teams haven't been district opponents since 2021. In fact, last year was the only time these two have met since they were district opponents. And this is another game that the Timberwolves will have circled going into this year. Mustang ended their 2025 season in the first round.<br><strong>Nov. 5th - AT Edmond Memorial</strong><br>- The 2026 regular season will come to a close with a road trip to Edmond as Norman North faces Edmond Memorial. These two teams have been district opponents since 2024 and we can only hope that this year's meeting is as exciting as last year's game. Norman North prevailed over the Bulldogs with a 49-48 victory.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"fontSize":"medium"} --> <p class="has-medium-font-size"><strong>NOTABLE</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>There's no doubt that Norman North is hungry to get back into the conversation of 6A-1's best programs. It's been ten years since the Timberwolves played Union for the 6A-1 state championship. And unfortunately for Norman North, that was the last time the Timberwolves got out of the quarterfinal round. Now, there is no doubt that Class 6A-1 has become an absolute gauntlet and the Tulsa-area teams suck a lot of oxygen out of the room when it comes to 6A-1 contenders. But Norman North has been in the position before where they have gone head to head with some of the beasts from the east and they've won. Now, they have to get back to that. We've seen Edmond Memorial and Mustang make semifinal appearances in recent years. It's possible for these teams from the west to compete with the east side programs.
