Scouting Report- Deer Creek Antlers
Jevion Jones- SR DB/WR- 5’11” 175lbs
Jevion Jones is a do it all player for the Antlers that contributes in nearly every phase of the game. His catches were limited on Friday to only 3, but that didn’t stop him from having a huge impact. In those 3 catches he had 127 yards. For those wondering thats a little over 42 yards a catch for Jones. He scored two TDs as well and was the main reason that the Antlers were able to stay in the game. His big play ability is obviously a huge asset for Deer Creek and something that will continue to provide a spark for the Deer Creek offense through the season. I expect an uptick in the targets for Jones as the season goes along, that I’m sure will be accompanied by more big plays. Jones is one of the more impressive and explosive playmakers I’ve seen so far this season.
Bryson Rouse- JR DB/QB- 5’10” 140lbs
Bryson like Jones had big play ability showing through on Friday night. He was Johnny on the spot several times defensively which led to two INTs which he took one back 97-yards for a TD. With his big plays defensively paired with Jones there was a plethora of long and impressive scores from Deer Creek. When Rouse wasn’t picking the ball off he was blanketing the Stillwater WRs so well that it limited a very good Stillwater offense to under 170 yards passing. Although Rouse isn’t your prototypical long, rangy, DB he still has very good technique that helps him read the opposing QBs moves as well as being in position to capitalize on any mistakes from the offense.
Brett Pense Brett Pense 6'2" | QB Deer Creek | 2022 State OK – SR QB- 6’3” 175lbs
Pense got off to a slow start, but picked it up as the game moved along. While he was shy of 200 yards passing he did toss 2 critical TDs including an 80-yard pass to Jones that really flipped the momentum of the game. Pense has a nice arm that can make all the throws needs inside the Deer Creek offense. Pense is definitely one of the more underrated QBs in the state, but I expect that will change by seasons end, especially with his group of playmakers he has to spread the ball around to.
