Wortkoetter is using his strength in other ways. The Monsignor Martin champion, will be a college wrestler next season, and he will be joining Mercyhurst next season.
The Lineman, can equally star on the football field, as he was named a Trench Trophy recipient, making him one of the top lineman in WNY. He has elite strength, which comes from his wrestling background, and I like his use of hands and leverage in reps. While he can play football, Mercyhurst is getting a star athlete in Wortkoetter.
Congratulations William!

After transferring from a Class D school, Wortkoetter made his presence known against tougher competition. Willy is one of the best Offensive Tackles in WNY and has experience playing each position on the OL. After earning All-Catholic honors last season, he should get recognition from the All State and All WNY teams.

This will be Wortkoetter’s 2nd season at St. Francis and between his time with the Red Raiders and at Wilson, he has played every position on the line. An All-State wrestler, Willy is masterful at pushing opposing defenders around and attacks with ruthless aggression.

Wortkoetter made the All Catholic team but was over looked with other accolades. I started following William when he was at Wilson and there, he played like a man among boys. Now with greater competition playing at St. Francis, he is still holding down the trenches with phenomenal power. I can see him being in the Trench Trophy conversation next season.

If you’re an OL coach who likes guys with a wrestling background, Wortkoetter is your guy – he transferred to St. Francis this past year and is one of the top HW wrestlers in the entire state. For St. Francis, he has played some OT, but I project him more at the guard position.
Wortkoetter is raw as blocker – his overall game did take a step forward from his SOPH season at Wilson, but he is continuing to develop the fundamentals, which will be key in his Senior tape – where he excels is his athleticism and natural strength, still learning how to utilize that strength on the football field he is a player where I think the multi-sport prowess really helps. He has the strength, bend, and flexibility to be an elite HW wrestler in the state, with time and reps, unlocking those athletic skills on the football field can make for a really impressive OL prospect.

For the class of 2026, Wortkoetter is a top-100 prospect in NYS. He came to St. Francis with high expectations and delivered with a fierce aggressiveness and impeccable technique. He was named to the All Catholic team as a junior but was unrecognized by the All State and All WNY committees. I expect that to change next season.

Wortkoetter, one of the top wrestlers in New York, has a similar skillset to the above Olson but likely translates to the interior at guard at the next level. Wortkoetter will be with St. Francis this season, which should really improve the quality of his film. He is really strong at the point of attack and does an excellent job of controlling and finishing defenders.

has been brought in, presumably to fill the void in their Left Tackle spot. I started covering Wortkoetter several months ago and love what he brings to the table. He is an aggressive, powerful lineman and I think Top-5 within the Class of 2026. He is a transfer from Wilson High School, a Class D program so his move to the Red Raiders will give him more exposure and I think many D-I opportunities.
