Tyler won the job over an offseason camp battle, and he is a dual-threat quarterback. The threat to move the chains with his legs allows passing lanes to develop as the backers tend to sink in when he moves around in the pocket. He’s done a good job of keeping his head up while scrambling and looking for a breakdown from the secondary. He’s done well in keeping the ball out of danger and keeping the offense moving.

Tyler has done a good job operating within the structure of the offense and when the play breaks down, takes off to move the chains. With his threat on the ground, it makes opposing defenses have to be wary of him with his arm and legs. As a passer, he’s been good at limiting mistakes or throwing it into danger. If he plays another mistake free game, that’ll go a long way in beating Riverton.

Messer won a prolonged camp battle and he’s making the most out of his final year. He does a good job of getting the ball out and leading his receiver. His ball placement has been good, and he has done a good job of keeping the ball away from the defenders. He bides additional time in the pocket and will take off and run. His ability as a risher has created more passing lanes, as backers will creep up to prevent him from taking off and he will throw it over them. He showcases good elusivness as a runner, and he’s added a dimension that’s been lacking in the Herriman offense for the past couple of years.
