Matt DeBary | Prep Redzone Scout
A breakout defensive back pospect out of Cobb County, not only was Forney Jr. a recent addition to the latest 2026 rankings, but he made a big jump all the way to the No. 43 spot in the state. He’s also now ranked as the No. 9 DB prospect in the state after a strong junior season where he was a dependable defender in the secondary for a loaded Kell Longhorn defense. He brings a promising frame, he can wrap up ball-carrier, and can consistently held his own in coverage. He saw his recruitment take off this winter and could see more offers come his way this spring and summer.

Tony Forney is yet another Kell DB with P4 offers under his belt. He is the Swiss army knife of the secondary. 6’1 180 with long arms. Thinner lower body and a long strider in space. Uses his length to tie up receivers and make life difficult at the catch point. Forney is an excellent tackler who can strike, but is also patient and settles down to a set base. Uses his length to engulf ball carriers. Well-developed prospect with the mass and physicality to play in the box and the length and athleticism to play in coverage. Forney is a T/F athlete who participates in the triple jump. Projects as a safety, but can wear a lot of hats.

A fast-rising defensive back with length, versatility, and a nose for the football, Forney Jr. is coming off a strong junior season for the Kell Longhorns where he made 30 tackles, three TFLs, two INTs, and one that was returned back for a touchdown. He hits hard behind his pads, covers plenty of ground in coverage, and knows how to make a play on the ball. He’s easily a new defensive back to know about who earned a major in-state offer this week from the Georgia Bulldogs. He also earned new offers from Michigan, Arizona State, among others. Look for him to make a big jump into the 2026 rankings this spring.
