out of Grafton. Tommy is a big back at 6’2″ 210 lbs who puts that size to good use. The kid is a load to bring down, especially when he hits the second level with a head of steam. Despite the long frame, Tommy has a low center of gravity that has helped him be able to break tackles and keep gaining yards without having to slow down or regather himself. Lutz also does a great job reading his blocks and identifying where and when to attack as the blocking develops. The senior also can be utilized as a receiving back, or asked to be a blocker. Tommy is a well rounded athlete with plenty of tape to go through. Check him out.

The best football players are usually the biggest, fastest, strongest ones. So as we try to build the “Perfect RB Recruit” we need to start with a big, strong frame. Grafton’s

has one of the bigger frames in the state. The senior checks in at a strong 6’2″ 210 lbs. That is exactly what we are looking for. The biggest frame possible that we can put the rest of the following traits inside of. Tommy is a need to know athlete in the senior class because of his talent and because he is still uncommitted. Get eyes on his tape.

Tommy was the one who was turned to and leaned on a lot of the night. The 6’2″ 210 lbs senior RB has the frame to handle that expectation and workload. The big back plays exactly how you hope a kid with his size would play. His lower body strength to churn through arm tackles and overall contact balance to stay square through hits despite behind 6’2″ is not easy to find. The senior also flashed agile, nimble feet through traffic on multiple occasions while running between the tackles. Tommy always seems to be gaining positive yards too. He doesn’t dance in the backfield or try to stop/start in traffic. He is always attacking downhill and gaining yards or creating yards through contact. The senior is one of the best available RBs in WI.

Tommy is playing even more dominant than he was in 2023 while helping lead Grafton to a State Championship appearance. The senior RB has over 900 rushing yards through 5 games with 12 TDs on the ground and another through the air. The big play threat from 2023 is even more electric this fall going from a 6.4 yds/carry average to an 8.1 yds/carry average.
The tape shows the leap in development even more. There is no question about whether or not Tommy has the physicality to play at the next level. As soon as he touches the ball the 6’2″ 210 lbs RB is ready to lower the shoulder and run over a defender. His is so quick to find seams, allowing him to always be getting downfield and not having to wait or dance laterally. Lutz also has the necessary speed to create the big play when he hits the open field. Tommy is a very imposing athlete at RB who is looking bigger, stronger, and faster than every in 2024.

We return to Grafton for another uncommitted 2025 steal. Tommy is a talented RB who holds offers from Sioux Falls, Oshkosh, and Eau Claire. The 6’2″ back returns as a 210 lbs athlete, which should play into his playing style perfectly. Tommy plays with patience and vision behind the line of scrimmage. As soon as he finds the lane he is going to hit the 2025 sticks his foot in the ground and attacks the hole. Despite his tall running style, Tommy does a great job of dropping his pads and running behind them in tight quarters. Lutz also surprises with his low center of gravity that keeps him balanced as he runs through or over tackle attempts. To finish out his well rounded game, the physical athlete has the open field speed to create the special, big play. Look for Tommy to pick up where he left off in 2023.

As you can see in the overall rankings we have a tight race going on for RB1. Right on the heels at RB2 is Grafton’s 6’2″ 205 lbs junior

. Tommy runs with an upright running style, which does give opponents more are to hit, but it didn’t slowed him down much in 2023. Tommy is a patient runner, allowing his OL to get to their spots and get the leverage advantage. Then he shows off the long speed as he flies through those lanes for big gains. When the time comes Tommy does show that he will lower the shoulder to gain yards after contact. He does a great job of keeping his balance, churning his legs, and pushing the pile. Tommy’s contact balance is his best trait play to play. Defenders wrap him up but can’t get him off balance to bring him down. Tommy is a tone setter with his size, balance, and power. He also flashes solid hands as a receiver out of the backfield.

Tommy is another returning bellcow back who helped lead his team to a State Championship appearance. The 6’2″ 200 lbs back is a tone setter between the tackles. The big back fights for the tough yards and is able to drag defenders as he gains yards after contact. Despite the long frame, Tommy has a sturdy center of gravity that allows him to play physical. Lutz has next level contact balance, absorbing big hits, shrugging them off, and getting up field. Tommy will be apart of a very talented offense in 2024. I’m expecting big things from them.

Stats: 30 Carries, 147 Yards, 2 TDsrnTommy should be an athlete that sees his recruitment really start to rise over this next year. He has an impressive frame at 6’2″ 195 lbs, and there is room to continue to fill out. Already, Tommy is a physical back. One that you can rely on to carry the rock between the tackles 20+ times a game. He has the wiggle/agility to make defenders miss or get a good angle on a defender so he can run through a tackle attempt. Lutz consistently keeps those legs churning to the whistle. Desptie the tall frame, Lutz also showed the contact balance needed to pick up the yards after contact. Keep an eye on the talented junior RB this offseason.
