Khaleb is another live review who earned his way up to the rankings with his display of talent. We were able to watch him during the Prep Redzone WI Spring Showcase where the 6’3″ 230 lbs edge defender was able to show that while raw, he was building the frame and technique to be a force on the edge by the time the season rolls around.

Length for the edge position is a must and Khaleb has no shortage of that. He was able to keep separation and then could show off his quick hands to clean away the hands of the OL. We saw that the was able to quickly dip and change pad level too making himself a hard target to stay square on. The quick feet and agility also helped make him a tough target to strike as well. I’m excited to see the role he can carve out this fall for one of the state’s reigning State Champions.

We mentioned Grafton’s senior-ladened roster from 2025. It was even more so on the defensive side of the ball. Grafton graduated their Top 12 tackles and Top 6 in sacks from 2025. So the door is wide open for a new front seven defender to step up and take an open job. One athlete I expect to be in the running is Edge Khaleb Drake-Gray.

The 2029 is definitely a raw prospect, but it is hard to overlook the long, 6’3″ 230 lbs frame. We were lucky enough to have Khaleb at the PRZ WI Spring Showcase and the up and coming 2029 Edge flashed next level potential over and over. From an explosive first step to strong hands on contact, Drake-Gray was tough for the OL to consistently stay in front of. He was able to win with speed and power on different reps. I’m looking forward to seeing his development and what type of role he can earn this fall.

The only downside of a team making a State Championship run is that their teams are loaded up with senior talent and the impressive freshman talent has to wait their turn to shine. Because of that Khaleb didn’t get much tape from the season and is on our Watch List. So you can bet that the freshman will be someone I follow closely. I want to see what he measures in at, what the frame looks like, and then what he looks like as a pass rusher vs OL in 1 on 1s. I want to see the get off, how low he fires out, if he uses his hands consistently and effectively, and if he can counter off his pass rush moves. I hope to see Khaleb prove to be one of the top 2029s in the state.
