The second Camden prospect in as many articles, Talib Shakir Talib Shakir 6'1" | 170 lbs | DB Camden | 2026 State NJ sures up a Panther’s secondary heading into 2026. Shakir, his classes #9 defensive back, runs full speed wherever he goes and has shown to play either the ball, the body, or through the hands with equal proficiency when breaking up passes. A somewhat slippery defender, we see him slip underneath short routes and have quick-reacting instincts that allow him to drive on the ball and break up many pass attempts in the process. What really makes Shakir a unique prospect is his ability to come up with the ball through contact and high point it. No play is to be given up on when Shakir is on the field. We saw him save a sure-bet touchdown on a blown coverage when he busted his hump from the far end of the field. Lastly, and something that likely caused such a high ranking for Shakir, was that for a corner back he is a damn good tackler who attacks the thigh boards, wraps, and drives extremely well.

Talib Shakir Talib Shakir 6'1" | 170 lbs | DB Camden | 2026 State NJ is built like the modern-day prototype at defensive back—and plays like it, too. At 6’1”, 170 pounds, the Camden standout brings impressive length, physicality, and one elite trait that jumps off the tape: recovery speed. He’s rarely out of position, and even when it seems like he’s beaten, he has a second gear most corners don’t have.
That speed, paired with his fluid hips and ability to cover ground, makes him dangerous in man or zone. He’s shown he can thrive at both corner and safety, which adds serious value to his profile. His recent offers from Rhode Island and Eastern Michigan reflect his rising stock, but he’s just scratching the surface.
Shakir has the tools to lock down top receivers and the versatility to be moved around as a defensive chess piece. This fall, don’t be surprised if his name starts coming up in conversations about the top DBs in the state.
