About Peyton

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

My gameplay style is an aggressive attack and technically proficient while maintaining leverage and shedding blocks. I am currently running a 4-3 Defense on a 5A Varsity Team. Given my size and skills, I believe I am suited for a 4-3 or a 4-2-5 scheme.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

a driven competitor with a big heart. As a sophomore starting on the varsity defensive line, I understand the responsibility to bring focus, discipline, and toughness every day. I strive to be the player my coaches and teammates can always count on—I work hard, lead with integrity, show up early and come prepared. I keep a small circle of friends who share my same passion and goals.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

BigHouse Christian Ministry Group (weekly on Wednesday evenings), Leadership Awards, Mr. Congeniality Award, Academic Achievement Awards

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

Since age six, competing in high-level tackle football and training under elite coaches and mentors has taught me discipline, teamwork, and relentless resilience. In 2024, I was the only freshman on the Cedar Falls High School Varsity Football Team, where I sharpened my technical ability, built mental toughness, and proved I could adapt and contribute alongside juniors and seniors.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Throughout my life, my family relocated five times across CO, IL, LA, FL, and IA, which meant adjusting to new schools, friends, teammates, and coaching styles. As an only child, each move pushed me to step outside my comfort zone, build new relationships, and earn my place on new teams. Most of my early life was in Louisiana, but thankfully, Iowa has been the most impactful in every way.

What type of college are you looking for?

Division I program with a combination of development opportunity, playing time, a winning culture and strong coaches, who genuinely care about their players, both on and off the field. I’m looking for a place that values character, development, and long-term success. Additionally, a school with a top-ranked engineering program.

Here’s another sophomore defensive tackle to watch out for! Cedar Falls’ Peyton Pontnack Peyton Pontnack Peyton Pontnack 6'1" | 230 lbs | DL/LB Cedar Falls | 2028 State IA played for the Tigers’ freshman team, where he was a stud at defending the run. Eventually, I could see Peyton play linebacker depending on how he continues to develop physically. Pontnack plays with high awareness and can track the ball very well even when engaged with blockers. Peyton is super quick to fire off the ball and keeps his trigger ready to shoot his hands and make powerful initial contact. Great pursuit and intense motor that you love to see from your defensive linemen. Add in that Peyton will be at a prospect factory like Cedar Falls for three more years, and the ceiling gets even higher!
