Benner balled out on both sides of the ball. The standout DB-ATH measuring in at 6’0 185-pounds showcased his elite athletic ability on both sides of the ball. When he wasn’t scoring touchdowns on offense, he was making big plays on defense with fumble recoveries, and a pick 6. Benner has good release, and was beating the defenders consistently at the line of scrimmage. Very good separation quickness. He used elite athletic ability to create separation between himself and the DB or LB. Very good route running skills. He ran a beautiful out route on the catch for a touchdown. He has very good catching and ball tracking skills. He plucks the ball out of the air and makes it look seamless. Including on the pick 6. Very good catch in traffic. Benner is an elite prospect that has committed to the Air Force Academy. They are getting a rare talent, and I’m excited to see how he does for the academy.

Benner finished his sophomore season as one of the best corners in the state. He is a physical player with a lengthy wingspan and a nose for the football. He led the state in interceptions (11) and had six pass breakups, solidifying his status as a ball-hawking lockdown corner. His ability to flip his hips quickly and his overall speed make him a problematic corner for receivers to beat deep. Benner is a player who could be used to shadow a number-one receiver if needed, making him a must-know defensive back.
