has emerged as a key contributor for Jefferson in the playoffs, continuing to make plays off the edge for the Cougars. Primarily lining up as a traditional defensive end, Benner has showcased quickness, strong hand usage, and the ability to bend around blockers to create pressure. His low pad level and consistent technique have helped him disrupt both the run and passing game in critical postseason situations, and he projects as a stand-up EDGE rusher or OLB.

. He’s a talented pass rusher who will play traditional defensive end with his hand in the turf, but projects as a stand-up EDGE rusher at the next level. Benner is quick off the ball and uses his hands well to defeat blocks consistently. He also plays with low leverage and good bend with his current role, which will translate well as an EDGE at the next level.

Jefferson | 2026 StateWVwho we like as a linebacker prospect right now. We’ve only gotten to see a very small sample size of his abilities so far from a few short highlights butwill get a great look at him in person at the combine to see what he’s capable of. The few available clips make you intrigued as Benner has quality size as a sophomore at 5’11 200 and appears to have some quickness and speed to pair with it. It appears he has some versatility as a middle and outside linebacker who can rush the passer but is also athletic enough to drop into coverage. We’ll be looking for him to answer our questions about where he’s at in his development right now and whether the athletic ability he flashed on the limited tape he has available shows up at the combine.
