made it hard to ignore him this past fall, and that’s why he now sits at the top of the 2028 linebacker board. The sophomore didn’t just flash; he produced, and he did it on both sides of the ball. At linebacker, the instincts and range showed up consistently, and as the season wore on, he became a real factor offensively, stringing together several strong outings at running back while also logging snaps at safety. That kind of versatility isn’t common, especially in a young player who’s still growing into his frame. The next step is pretty clear: continue adding size and strength without sacrificing the movement skills that separate him. If the physical development matches the competitive edge and playmaking feel he’s already shown, Roberts won’t just hold that top spot; he’ll widen the gap and head into his junior year as one of the more complete two-way prospects in the class.

secures our new #1 linebacker ranking in the class after a breakout sophomore season for the Cougars. He also came on strong late in the season at running back and put together several big rushing games as a talented and versatile athlete who also saw reps at safety. His ceiling will continue to increase as he adds size, but Roberts’ athleticism and early playmaking ability will allow him to develop into a top prospect in this class.

has had a breakout sophomore campaign for the Cougars and has been one of the better performers in the playoffs so far. He’s excelled all season at linebacker, earning First Team All-EPAC, but Roberts emerged at running back in the quarterfinals against George Washington out of necessity and had a phenomanl performance. The Cougars will likely heavily lean on him in the semifinals in a big matchup with Morgantown, and look for Roberts to place highly in our upcoming 2028 rankings update.
