Expert Analysis

Boards flashed big in week one and looked really comfortable working out of the slot. He did a nice job finding space and consistently gave his quarterback an open target to hit in stride. His biggest play came on a nice post route where he created space and took it for a long touchdown to get his season started. South Warren rolled to an easy win, but I liked what Boards showed within the offense. He looked smooth, reliable, and capable of creating some explosive plays from the slot.

was all over the field for South Warren on Friday night. He led the Spartans with 16 rushing attempts for 74 yards at 4.6 yards per attempt. Boards was the team’s second-leading receiver on the night as well, catching five passes for 59 yards and two touchdowns. This included a 37-yard strike across the middle of the field to open the second quarter and push the lead to two scores. Boards is coming off a season where he finished with 81 carries for 583 yards and eight touchdowns, and I expect him to eclipse that and then some in 2026 based on his Week 1 performance.

A lot of running backs at this level aren’t as patient as

when he’s following his blocks. Boards is shifty, though, and once he hits open space, he can jab-step, hesitate, and make defenders miss. Boards has great vision out of the backfield. He waits for holes to open up rather than bounce to the outside for a potential loss. He enters his junior season having logged 78 carries for 581 yards and seven touchdowns last year. That’s good for an explosive 7.4 yards per carry as he looks to build on his success in 2026.

Boards got some work as a freshman and took a big step in year two. He shows good patience, letting blocks set up before hitting the hole. He moves well laterally and can shift into a new gap without losing momentum. He has good top-end speed and acceleration, which helps him finish runs. He had a fairly productive and efficient year, averaging just over 7 yards per carry while finishing with 583 yards and 7 TDs. I like the jump he made, and he’s a back who could keep trending up with more opportunities.

, a running back/athlete at South Warren High School. Boards catches my attention offensively with his ability to find openings and punch through the defense on the ground. I also like how Boards can pick up speed on the run and use his arms to push off defenders in the backfield.
