About Jake
Expert Analysis
Tyler Stevens | Prep Redzone Scout
Jake caught my eye in the championship game with an incredible interception. He high-pointed the ball and had a huge vert after breaking on it as a safety. He looks to be a good athlete already and we’ll have to see how much he improves as he grows.

is making his third appearance in writeups stemming from the 7th Grade Tennessee vs. Kentucky Future Stars this year. The Corbin Middle School prospect was an offensive standout for Kentucky, much in part to his physical play and countless big blocks on offense. He finds himself in this defensive writeup because of his active and physical play as a Linebacker. He showed versatility as he lined up as a Mike, but played the position like an OLB. He (unofficially) finished with three tackles, but his speed to the ball was very notable.

had a big hand in Kentucky’s offense this past weekend.
Salmons is a tough, gifted kid who knows how to find the end zone. However, in All-Star Game format, and on a team with as much talent as the 7th Grade Kentucky Future Stars had, sometimes kids are asked to do more. Salmons had no problems with that.
More impressive than his production with the ball in his hands, was Salmons’ blocking. Off the top of my head, I can recall at least four key Salmons blocks that helped Kentucky pop off for a big gain. His overall ability as a “football guy” was on display with a number of very tough runs throughout the day too.

During the 2024 football season, the Corbin 8th graders won the KYMSFA Division 2 State Championship; While the Corbin 7th graders didn’t win it all, they still made it Region 3 Championship game before falling to eventual State Champions–Northern Pulaski. A large part of the success on the seventh-grade level came via

. Salmons was named a KYMSFA Honorable Mention Regional POY nominee for his efforts and was also selected for the Region 4 team in the KYMSFA BOTR. During the BOTR weekend tournament, I got a chance to see him score three touchdowns (2 rushing, 1 receiving) in Region 4’s victory over Region 3 in the consolation game.
